All kids are different. At least you have a self motivated & disciplined one. What about those parents with both kids need to be pushed?

I think there are two aspects of \"push\" here.
1. \"Push\" as in wanting kids to deliver more
2. \"Push\" as in have to tell and nag to get kids to get things done.

Being satisfied with the results when they have done their best does not mean that I do not need to push (meaning 1) them. We set expectations based on their capabilities and we push them when we know that they are performing below their potential.

For DC 1, it is just that she is motivated and we do not need to push (meaning 2) her in her academic pursuit. However, it does not mean that it is a breeze parenting her as there are other aspects that we need to guide her in. For DC2, given his \"laid back\" attitude in his academic pursuit, we have to push him more.

For me, at the end of the day, if my kids have given their best, then whatever T-score they are going to bring back I will be happy to accept it. But if I know that my kids have not done their best, even if they obtain a T-score of above 250 (benchmark set by person who started this thread as she said \"Someone told me that any score lower than 250 is the end of the world...\"), I will feel that they have short-changed themselves.

Every child is unique individual, each is given special talent. Only if we, parents, would love them, accept them as what they are, without presumption and comparison, we are here to guide our children to develop the positive attitude and good working habit, and instill the right value and morale. Given the time, they will grow into their fullest potential.

For me, a good PSLE score is when my child has put in his/her best effort. If the child has a positive learning attitude, listens in class, completes homework, do the necessarily revision and practice papers prior to examination and has given his/her best, then I, as well as my child, will be satisfied with the score.

So if your child doesn't bother to put in his/her best effort? And has a \"can't be bothered\" attitude ... only then you won't be satisfied?

I don't think I can ever say I'm \"satisfied\" with my kids scores (I have 3 that've already done PSLE). It's really none of my business since it's their life. I think they've all disappointed us though! And mostly - to themselves! haha!!!

I mean, if the child has done his/her best and still bring back a low t-score, then there is really nothing we can do about it. Conclusion is probably he/she is not of the material to ace PSLE and we will help the child find his/her niche.

But if the child has not done his/her best, and has a \"cant be bothered attitude\", as parents, we will counsel, we will guide. But if he/she still can't be bothered, then again, there is really nothing we can do. If this child were to come back with 250, but we think this child is capable of better scores, then we will be disappointed.

I will feel that this child has short-changed himself but I do agree with you - it is their life.

My cousin was born in 1996 When he took his PSLE He only got 172 and went into NT(normal technical)his parents were utterly disappointed and he was sad. Afterthat , he worked hard and jumped from nt to na then jumped to express! After that he got the highest in his school. So parents, even your children gets low for psle, you must motivate them then they will strive…
