Double E,
MMI did not teach Chinese in school ? That's y u send yr son to berries separately ?
The CC does teach Chinese. But since he does not reject Chinese, so just send him to Berries to enhance it. -
I totally agree with all mummies here. It’s the nature of the person. If out of 3 teachers, 2 were there and gave no notice to all these distressed kids, that’s pretty bad yah…
It really takes time to find a good school with good teachers. not easy. My neighbour also had a terrible experience with CC. omg, i couldn’t believe that those bad experience is so near me, my friend and my neighbour.
Mummies, i have another doubt in my mind now. I engaged a private centre to do clinical assessment on my son this coming Thu. case manager told me that if we go through the evaluation with them, we can’t go to KK , which is on 11 Oct. They both use the same method to assess the kid. She was very frank and said it’s not ethical to do that. She warned me before choosing them.
reasons to go for private assessment: 1) i dont need a diagnosis or confirmation now since my son is 2 and he’s not very obvious. most likely KK would say can’t diagnose too young, come back at 4. 2) i am using the same centre for future therapies. this evaluation they perform will give them and us more direction on how to help my son. it’s like setting the foot right before the start. hope it’s more effective.
reasons to go for KK: 1) i am being Kiasu. Private is expensive, i set a target of 1 year for this expensive private intervention. but what if it is not working out well?? when my son turns 3 or 4, the long term private intervention will drain my family, slowly i need to send him to gov intervention, since cheaper or possibly future subsidy. Usually they have long wait list. so i can get the diagnosis first and queue up first. 2) it’s cheaper to sign up for KK’s Henan program and possibly other parent training program.
I need advice. Thanks. -

Helplessmum3, you dont give up, okay? My son doesn't bond with me. sob. sob. if he can bond with any family member, i really dont mind...sob.sob.They are not into passionate kind for these teachers .
They are profit or money driven n want elite kids to make their school have the name n get more sales..
Some preschool teachers r like that too. Always boil down to individual but at enrichment school there are more such teachers.
Can check w Double E, her son goes berries Chinese .
Karkar,
Double E 's son is more connect.. He can express hee!
My son just know how to requests n ask to hug n kiss.
Express not as good..
heard that more than word program from Hanen not bad. if your son's gone through assessment in KK, they can refer you for half price..
i also just borrowed a book called \"motivate to communicate\". i let you know if its good after i go through it. -
Kar kar,
There is no reason why the private centre does not allow u to go to Kkh and at the same time go to them. What ethical reasons are they talking about? Is your son, u hv every right to get different specialists to assess him. Is the centre saying that once u start with them, u cannot turn to public hospital for help? Seems very unreasonable to me. I hv never heard of such demands from any of my private therapist or my private psychologist. -
Kar kar
Yar lor, why would it be ‘unethical’? It’s like I get a 2nd opinion what… Don’t get their reasoning.
I think you can identify the areas you need to work on even before the test. In other words, you don’t need to do the test to get a clear direction. If you enage a therapist or send him to the right centers, the therapists should be able to point out what & how to Go about helping your son without the test. He’s still young, there’s no hurry to get him tested.
You see, this is what’s happening with us now. My son’s test is in one week’s time. But I have interceded & went ahead to give him the social help skills he need even before the test. Apparently now, it seems that if we can give my son some time to work on certain things, we may be able to avoid the diagnosis. But he needs more time. So, I’m intending to push back the test- much as I’m eager to know, but I think I’ll give him more time to work on. Hopefully he will improve and maybe get a ‘lighter sentence’ hahaha. So you may want to consider, working with your son first, before getting tested? I’m not sure, just a thought. -
my daughter also goes to berries
she has been with berries since nursery.
whenever there is a change of teacher, due to new year, i will talk to the teacher before hand to advise her of my daughter's condition.
when she reached P1, i was talking to the teacher about her on the 1st term. then the teacher was quite funny, told me\" oh , you don't worry about her, i was her relief teacher a few times before during kindergarten , i know her pattern \"
but my daughter loves going to Berries :rahrah:
She can't really speak chinese before going there , but now though her chinese pronociation is still quite off now and then, but i think her recognition of the words have improved alot. she actually got 29/30 for her CA2 :rahrah:
she also has an assistant teacher in berries during her class. both her teachers are very patient to her and also will pull her aside to teach her 1-1 when they notice that she needs help during the written assignment.
:please: -

That's good to know. Wow! 29/30 is very good. I agree, generally the teachers at Berries are very friendly and professional. -
hi,
not that they don’t allow. they dont suggest. when i first told them i am going to KK to do assessment, they didnt offer me their evaluation. until i expressed my concern over what can KK assess and conclude for my son so young, they suggested theirs and said it’s not diagnosis, it’s to identify areas for development in a more holistic way.
case manager said that if both kk and they use the same assessment tactic, it might distort the diagnosis result. say if my son has gone through theirs first, KK might give a diff opinion or distort the facts. that’s why she implies. She said typically one year apart is better -

Kar kar,
If I am you, I go for both… The more professional opinion I hv on my child, the more I understand his areas of weakness ESP if it’s identified in both KKH n pte.
Since u hv budgeted for pte therapy for 1 year, why not go KKH n sign up their therapy as well if you can afford the time n money… In fact the more intervention hours they get, the more effective it is for them. U are in the best position to utilize all help from pte n KKH you can get. But bear in mind, KKH therapy waiting list is long, so I would say KKH therapy serve more as a supplementary …
Go for both and see how it goes along the way. Good luck.
