Thanks for your sharing! You're right, I have to close one eye to the level of cleanliness in the house. It's not easy as I like my home spick and spank but it's not possible now cos if I sweep and mop and clean every day, I would have no time for my child. She is still very young and needs me to take care of her daily needs.


I also find it tough to cook and wash the dishes after a whole day of cleaning, laundry, sweeping, mopping etc. So we tend to eat out more these days although we would much prefer to eat at home.

That's why I'm thinking of investing in the Roomba to help me clean the floor. at least it's one load off me.

Really salute to those mummies who have more than 1 kid and no maid or parents/in-laws/child care centres to help out at all. Wonder how they do it?! :salute:

I have done it with 2 small kids. For the first year after the 2nd was born (the busiest year of all!), I had a PT maid to come in 1 morning a week to clean and iron, and I ordered tingkat dinners. After that, I started cooking again but retained the PT maid for a few more years. The main thing is to decide what is crucial and lower your standards a bit if necessary. Do the essentials as often as you have to, and the other things less often. I had a routine for every day so things would mostly get done. And I trained my kids to be tidier and cleaner, and as they grew, they learned to help more as well.

Glad that DH was wrking late shift so he did the cooking of dinner, washing & hanging of clothes.. But sianz tat it rained tis morning.. so no sun for my clothes.. n i have got no place for a dryer.. sigh..

But wat m gg to buy to start off for being maidless will be the spinner mop that HomeFix is selling now at $59.90. Heard from my frens is pretty good.. n den will get my irobot once my budget works out..

Yup. Robotic Cleaner are pretty affordable nowadays. 1 months Maid's salary + expenses could easily cover the cost of a Robotic Cleaner. iRobot Roomba range from $5XX and are pretty good value models.

Indeed, I don't like the idea of having a non-family member in the home. Feels so awkward. The only time I had someone else at home was the confinement lady. Even then, it felt awkward.

Janet.. I totally agree.. was on the verge to 'kill' her when i found 2 old hidden mobile phones and she apparently 'hit' my kids.. :frustrated: :stompfeet:

No longer haf the patience to counsel her anymore..

My last maid was a Filipino.

She worked for 8 months packing in an incense shop everyday...actually illegal. No need for her to cook as employer will packet lunch & dinner everyday. But she wanted a change, so she asked for a transfer to do housework and cook and i actually believed her :stupid: She refused to learn cooking!!! Half the time I don't know what she was saying. Then she put words in my mouth by saying I hate her.
I sent her off...she is a glutton but refused to cook and refused to learn.
