      This is what I know...

Interviews were called for. Suspect those who went for interview are more or less guaranteed a place unless they screw up the interview. 2 of my friends' children are accepted right on the spot. Interviews are taking place these 2 days with the VP (yesterday and today).

      Hi Tinkle Belle

That's strange, maybe they have changed the system this year. Did you friend's son go for the entrance exam too? Don't think the result is out so soon, why not you give the office a call?

ya... heard that they are having interview these 2 days 😞

        Hi,

I’m enquiring on behalf of a friend. Does any parent with kids at MSH know if the school has a taff club? Does the school single out those P1 kids who are obese for extra physical training sessions? My friend, who has a chubby son who will be starting P1 next year is very concerned. Thanks.

          Hello everyone!

We missed the P1 orientation, so I'm hoping to get the following information from the new MS parents here:
          - where do the kids go on arrival? (I know we can probably see where everyone is when we reach the school, but we may have to arrive and leave early since we have to send DD to her school too.)
          - can parents be around the first few days of school?
          - since the kids will not go to the canteen, can we go to their classrooms at recess?

          Thanks in advance 🙂

Btw, anyone's son going to 1D?
          Hi Sotong.mum,

#1: I believe there will be prefects and teachers near the main office to guide the P1 students on Day1.
#2 & #3: Yeap, they allow parents to hang around the school for first 2 days. They will organize talks for parents while the boys are in the class. Parents can join the boys during recess time.

They also advised parents who intend to stay in school to use public transport since there are limited car parks.

My boy will be in 1I.

                Hi all,

My boy was born in 2005, so it may still be early for me to ask, but I need to find out more in advance as I am not familiar with primary education here.

My husband studied in Maris Stella, so I think our boy is in 2A2 category. However, we haven’t decided whether to put him in an all boy or a mixed school. My husband who studied in boy schools for primary and secondary is relunctant in sending the kids to boy schools. He said it was boring with all boys in school and he didn’t know how to behave in the company of girls later on.

Is this even an issue with the parents who send their boys to Maris Stella? Should I be concerned about this? My ds is saying he wants to study with both boys and girls… He gets along with girls quite well now, but I don’t know if this will still be true when he gets a bit older.

My other options are volunteering at Ai Tong > 2km, and Kuo Chuan <1km. Any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

School Tie - how often or when do the boys need to put the tie on?

Recess Time - I found out that the Recess Time is incredibly late at 10.45am? How am I going to feed my son so well at 6am - 6.15am that could last him till 10.45am? Even if I can wake up early & prepare a good breakfast, I wonder how much can he stomach at that early hour to last till 10.45am? I feel heartpain as they are only 6 - 7 year olds with small stomachs. If I am not wrong, most other schools’ Recess Times are between 9.30am - 10am for P1s.

                      hi Honey,
school ties are required every Monday except if the kids have PE that day.

Thanks Actorfamily 😄 . Will put the tie on for my son on the first day of school then. He looks forward to wearing the tie 😄 .
