My dd will be taking his psle in 2014 too. After all the 2012 Psle posting, I really feel the stress. Have start thinking how to prepare dd for the Psle, especially the math paper - really a headache lah!

        Nebbermind,
what are your views about IB and A-level?
Actually I'm quite out of touch with either.
I'm more of a 'school' person, ie, as long as the school has a good rep (which all the IB school do!), and my kid want to go there, then I'll support all the way!

But I did have this misconception that IB DO NOT have major exams. Someone corrected me recently saying they do have a final exam at yr6.

Nebbermind, not true leh. We did dsa for niche sch but till now still no news after interview in Jul. Called sch 3x but was given different reason, the last being the sch will not be sending out any letters, wait for moe letter instead. So there is technically no 'peace' at our end while taking the psle. Another potential change by moe? :scratchhead:

No CO? The take it as a FAT NO lor. Sorry for being so blunt but really have to move on if most of the others have already got an response from the schools.

Haha.. no worries abt the bluntness. When no co came in mid Sep, I sort of did not bother to check letterbox already as they say usually announce only in mid Sep. But kind of curious about the change as it differs from what they mentioned in their dsa process.
It did not affect ds a bit, think he quite forgotten he did dsa anyway.

              thanks for your views!

the two non-sap boys sch that offers dual track are both IB. if son is eligible for IP stream, i prefer dual track as safetynetting while husband said 'do or die'!! cannot give the kid a safetynet so kid will have no choice but to work forward.

husband said stress school performance first. if got that good marks then decide. why talk so much now? :spank:

Yes, can apply into SAP sec school even if he/she did not take HCL in primary school, as long as the COP is met.

I doubt if the applicant will be rejected or penalized if he/she had met the COP but failed HCL, if you are applying via S1 posting since HCL is not even a requirement for entrance to SAP school.

That said, the student may struggle with the subject if he/she chooses to go to a SAP sec school where HCL is compulsory. I've heard that some SAP sec schools have set a minimum HCL grade as part of its promotion criteria to the next level.

Any idea if cannot cope HCL, can just take normal Chinese in SAP schools?

I hv the same question, or is HCL compulsory in all SAP secondary school. Am hoping that they hv the same practice as the primary level, offering normal Chinese for those less competent in Chinese.

Lego, can share which schools set minimum HCL grade for promotion?

woohoo, I have a feeling that this is going to be very exciting thread TOO. :grphug:

                  Why exciting? :nailbite: :nailbite: :nailbite:

So weird. Without seeing KSI, eye open and close; see a cutie little boy rolling back and forward; seeing the little chicken cock \"ksi, ksi, ksi.\"......Instead of seeing blank GUEST?

                  Coming on, what happened.?

From one of the threads, it was mentioned that River Valley High set very high standard and promotion is dependent on passing the subject, or given conditional promotion but must attain a certain standard the next year.

But I would like to find out whether the other SAP schools have the same practice. Hope someone with DC in SAP schools can enlighten us. Must try to narrow down what schools to apply for when the PSLE results are out tentatively from Nov 22-26.
