Blokus,
Helplessmum, any reason why you did not send your son for therapy? I think based on all that you've describe, your son prognosis is very, very positive. Alot of things you say of him, many kids here don't do at age 3. My son now even at 5, don't even come to me & say \"mummy, love, love\". So I feel, he shows huge potential to improve. But he needs people who can teach him and give him proper direction. And he's very young, which means it's the best time to intervene! Hope I don't sound harsh here, but I feel like it's such a pity he's not getting the help he needs, especially when he's got so much potential. I am happy to see you are trying to engage DoubleE's therapist. I wish & hope you'll soon find one that is within your expectations! Jiayou!helplessmum3:

Double E:
can pm me yr therapy contact? btw, have rainbow contact u?Helplessmum
Do you have any email that I can send the contact of the therapist to? Her charges is $100 per hour. But her schedule is very full, so you may need to adjust your own schedule to suit hers.
Yah, your boy seems very advance. I also remembered u mentioning that when at playground, he will approach other kids to play with him. I will be thrilled if my boy does that.
Seriously, your boy doesn't sound ASD to me. He hasn't gone thru a formal assessment right? so perhaps he is not ASD afterall, but just delayed in certain areas.
If you think KKH's therapist is not good or takes too long to schedule an appointment. U can send your boy to private therapist, on alternate weeks if you are concern abt money. If one session is about say $130, each mth is $260. Not too expensive and yet, your boy has a therapist to help monitor his progress and guide him.
heard some who join rainbow , they regress instead of progress..
they use alot of PECS, my son dun no how to relate tatt.
my son diagnosed already in April by kkh lazy physocolgist -

Awww thanks immeemee. Dunno lei, 2 therapists already told me language disorder is under the umbrella of autism. Yes, I do have less things to tackle comparatively. I just need to work on his joint attention & social communication skills (though he's got some levels of each area). That's why I was told since he doesn't display any other typical autism traits, we could try to aim for language disorder. Though she didn't say it might not be autism.
Aiyah I dont know! Ever since the dr put him up for autism test, I'm on a blur. Some days I'm convinced he's fine but when I see how he gives no eye contact or interest when some other people try to talk to him then I'm certain he does. talk about false hope, I'm so worried I'm giving myself false hopes!
truth be told, even up to now which is 2 years after my daughter's formal dignosis there are times when I look at her and think 'maybe she's NT afterall'.
 -
my son use to approach kids, now no longer. cuz whenever he is in cc, teacher will pull him away from the child, if my son wan to get near.
recently he saw a child crying he walk over to him and smile at him… -
helplessmum3:
Why did the teacher do that? I think u need to question the teacher. If your boy is not harming the other kid, why pull him away? They are discriminating him isn't it?my son use to approach kids, now no longer. cuz whenever he is in cc, teacher will pull him away from the child, if my son wan to get near.

Thought u wanted to change cc for him? How is it? This CC is definitely not a nurturing one. -
Yes changing cc soon.
Yes discriminatiOn.
By chance I saw few incidents . So at class when I’m not there they did the same.
They can say they not bUt do. U know what I mean…
So my son now prtocOl he shd not go near kids .
No choice we are under their mercy to take in my son
Now change school also worry hiaz . What if later school want to kick him out -

i postponed mine. or rather change the date to later. i just got diagnosis that hes confirmed ASD. hes 2 years old soon and i am warned that his autism behaviour would come later. eye contact, awareness of social environment and lack of recognition of representation are his problems. i will wait for the formal report and yes, i am signing up for him home therapy program, 10 hr/week. we as parents and grandparents would learn to carry out more sessions under guidance of therapist.Mums
My son's autism test is next week. But after 2 social skills sessions at wee care, the therapist thinks if we can work on his social communication then maybe we can try to aim for language disorder rather than autism. So, it was suggested that I postpone the test while we give him some time to work on social skills. However, I found out that the wait list for the test is very long. So if I postpone it, it may drag till like next March or so. My hub thinks that's fine. But I feel like so sayang. Yet, I don't need any diagnosis now since we are still going to mainstream and so far he seems to be independent enough at school.
So how? It looks like I've to wait another 6 more months to know. What would you do if you were me?
he is doing hand flapping this week and toewalking seems more often now. regression!! and he does delayed echolalia, his counting and doing alphabet songs doesn't mean anything. Psychologist advised to stop the music and dis encourage meaningless counting or recital.
Hey Autism, i know you have been in our family for a while, but you just got confirmed. sad enough, but i try to stay positive. hope miracle will happen. He's a lovely kid, he deserves much more than this. -
Karkar:
I don't quite understand the reason behind stopping the music. My NT gal also sings. Why does it need to mean anything? She repeats songs from memory, recite di zi GUI which I read to her from young. She's now singing gangnam style!Blokus:

And the so called meaningless counting is just to memorize the sequence of the nos. it is numeracy literacy. He is less than 2 yrs old. So I don’t know why there’s a need to look more to it than necessary.
