getting a prepaid sim card in korea is very different from other countries whereby we just slot in their local sim card to our phone. In korea, our phones are not recognised in their network. u can try simcard korea, but its not cheap.

I would think renting a phone with data plan will be a better option.

but renting their phone would mean i cant check emails and log on to my apps easily right? this is not friendly ya...

U just have to download whatever apps u using into the rented phone. Do it while u are still in the shop so u can still get the telco staff to help u if u have any problems.

What do you mean our phones are not recognised? We can still use the phone to call/sms (with roaming) in Korea. If you stay in a hotel with wifi or find free wifi, you can have data access on your phone (data through 3G roaming will be too expensive).

If you are going to Jeju, that will take away at least 2-3days = 6days. Nami island in winter nothing much I think. You just see a row of leafless tree...haha. 그렇죠 ttoi 씨? That would leave you with 5 days.

The must thing to do are:

1) Eat the Tteokpokki along the streetside. Heard Sinchon has very good Tteokpokki there.

2) Hongdae University - street cafes, art stuffs, street busking, shopping etc

3) Ehwa University (all girls university) - ladies shopping

4) Jjimjilbang (찜질방) – Korean Spas (whole day affair)

5) Myeongdong (Orchard Rd equivalent)

6) Eat their Korean BBQ aka Samgyeopsal 삼겹살 (I usually go to 三金 along Myeongdong and 감자탕 Gamjadang, potato stew with big pork spine ribs (Onedang along Myeongdong too) You can google both for address.

7) Kyobo Book store - largest branch in Seoul is at Gwanghwamun. Gwanghwamun-jum in Seoul, which is located right under the Kyobo Building, situated at Number 1, Jong-ro 1 Street. (Seoul CBD).

Oh yes, there's a rice wine, Makgeolli shop in Myeongdong too.

Just for your info, Myeongdong is a very very long street, just like 女人街 in Hong Kong.

If you want Italian Restauratn, I recommend of \"Mad for Garlic\" beside of Lotte Department. If chinese restaurant, you can go Ming(밍1956, 02-774-7255) beside of Lotte young plaza.

Most people knows myeongdong kalguksu and Myeongdong Donkasu. But I recommend hamhung nangmyeon beause it is difficult to eat in Singapore.
