I’ve been a tutor for some time (nearly 10 yrs now), so maybe I can share my views. To choose 1-1 or group, it depends on what is the sort of help that you child needs. If your child needs the tutor to run through a lot of contents because he/she don’t understand the chapters, then group tuition might not be so suitable. That’s because the tutor cannot pace the lessons according to the slowest learner, otherwise the fast learner will get bored and all. It’s usually more intimidating to ask questions in a group too, though that also depends on personality.

For group tuition, have to look carefully on the group size. If it’s cheap and has a large tutor-student ratio, then these are good for children who wants minimal help and maximum practice sessions. Basically these kind of group tuition is for the tutor to babysit the children and make sure they do work. The tutor cannot go around and help each children in depth.

Small group sized tuition will represent the most value for money. Cheaper rates, more attention than big sized groups from the tutor and possibly small group discussions. I really don’t believe in any tuition with a group size as large as a class in school, haha

        Hi

Individual or Group tuition - which is better? In my opinion, the main advantage of individual tuition is that the student gets undivided attention. But group tuition can also be beneficial, as students can get group synergy from learning together - especially if the group size is small (not more than 4). And furthermore, group tuition is usually cheaper per student. What do you think?

            hi jacktutor,

u may look at other threads before creating a new one as it will save the moderators time to combine so many threads of similar titles and content... there is already a previous thread mentioning the same topic.
