2012 PSLE Discussions and Strategy

Simon KP:
If the child quote the wrong question number for PSLE English compo, will he be penalised?
I think someone had already asked this question. The chances of the markers looking at the question no. before they do the marking is very low. They have so many papers to mark & it is either continuous writing or picture compo. -

Most likely no. So just relax.
Compo topics are so distinct in nature and there are only two choices. Markers will, in all probability, take it as a minor oversight rather than a punishable mistake. -

Parents tend to give more attention to their first child & they end up become more dependent. Younger ones usually pick up faster than their older siblings & they are more independent too. It is time for us to let go the older ones so that that they can become more independent too.
Janet, I can empathize with you. I, neglected my two younger DDs too, paying more attention to my older one, fussing over DS more. My DDs will tell me that I teach the elder brother more.janet_lee88:
I am learning to let go of older one...have neglected my P2 for 2 years.
Is it true that mothers tend to place more emphasis on their oldest child, teaching and inculcate more good values in them so that he can be a role model for the younger siblings? I try to strike up a balance but somehow the older one takes precedence most of the time. I vow to make up for lost time with my DDs now that PSLE is over. Janet, go hug your DD again and again that you love her just as much as you love your DS. I shall do the same.

No. Markers are supposed to read through the compo so they would know which story the child is writing. Even if the child wrote (2) and he wrote story (3), no mark would be penalized. -

My older one was born with cleft lip & palate...that is prob why we pay more attention to him. Actually I am stricter with him bcos he is older, so I feel that he should set a good example.

Last year, he was struggling with P5 syllabus and she was in P1. Then followed by PSLE. I feel so guilty but just do not have stamina to find time for her. -

I'm still trying to get him to improve his Chinese since there is still Chinese in sec school. Intend to get him to choose some Chinese books and read them together when we have the time.
Sigh! I have just been reminded of Chinese...

I’m so out of juice that I’m still in no mood nor have the energy to go full swing into revision with my no.2 and SA2 is in a week’s time. Sigh…am I the only one feeling like that?
By the way, has everyone gotten that grey coloured secondary school posting book? (Sorry I don’t know what’s the exact name for it) -

I'm 'recovering' slowly...still have to coach #2 bcos she has SA2...do what we can. Just don't have high expectations. Her FT advised me to go easy bcos she is slow. Telling myself, SWITCH FOCUS...she is going to P3 next year. There will be Science !!!
Collected the grey colored book...it's the 2013 sec schools listing.
