I'm quite confident that the new IP schools have already done their homework and ensure that the 'promotion' of the pri students to sec remains about the same as previous years despite the new IP program.

I think you are right. I cannot speak for the other new IP schools with dual tracks but for the affiliated pri sch which my P6 dd is in now, based on the past stats of P6 students who qualified and ended up in the affiliated sec school, that number is still below the no of seats for O levels. So you are right to say that the promotion of the affiliated girls is not affected currently.

However, the numeric example I gave earlier is based on the assumption that all the affiliated students meet the affiliated COP and all of them will choose the affiliated sec school. If that happen one day, the demand will exceed supply for my dd school. The school principal has, in fact, mentioned this scenario in one of her briefings to parents.

Thank you all Moms and Dads for the info on how to pick schools. It was very helpful indeed.

wah, tough ! Jia lut for non affliated pri sch students.
like that ... will see a surge in demand seeking for transfer request(s) into affliated pri schools.
Er...why would there be a surge in transfer requests? Thought at primary 1 registration, the affiliation to sec schools is already one of the reasons why some primary schools are more popular?

That's my understanding of the allocation system too. What I did with my daughter last year was to select 2 'hopeful' schools, 2 'reasonable chance' schools, and another 2 'sure' schools. This way, we got to choose all the 6 schools and not have the possibility that she got sent to a school we didn't select because all the choices aimed too high.
Thanks for the suggestion. Never thought of it this way before.

Honestly I am still worried...bcos the allocation of schools is done in MOE. For eg, son tries for SJI with 242, first choice school. But will my son get in if there is another another boy with 242 ? Who will get in? Sorry if this question is repeated.

Why worry for something which is beyond your control, ie, the eventual COP?

As for your qn, yes, repeated many times...think maybe even 1 or 2 pages ago. The actual T-score has several decimal places...so see which one higher lor if it's the last slot. But I think they may just let u squeeze in.

Is IB suitable for kids who are not outspoken and quiet? Do they have to do lots of presentation? How is the IB different from IP?

Is this something like car locking system (beep beep)?
Asked hubby how can car lock be secure when there is another similar model and brand...does this frequency thing apply to t score too?
