Hi
Any mummies looking into ICR Primary English Programme for P1?
Noticed a lot of children attending ICR are from the pre primary levels.
Wondering if the PEP is good and recommended for P1? -

Hi,
I believed that their programme emphasis more on the ICR. As for the PEP programme, I believed that they follow on stellar syllabus but effectiveness may not be applicable for my boy. It would depend on the individual kids. -
Tks!
I am trying to compare the PEP with Learning Point.
As the material for PEP seems revamped and looks like following MOE syllabus.
Any mummies with kids in PEP now? -
anyone wf kids in I can read PEP prog?

I need help!
My DS3 was diagnosed with delayed speech and he is attending speech therapy lessons every week.
I wanted to start teaching him how to read, therefore, i am using Peter and Jane 1a.
But i realised that he has problem recognising words. He could not recognise the word "Peter" even after 2 days (4 sessions with him).
How should i help him? Is this a problem in the 1st place?
Will ICR help him?
Thanks -
hi SAHM Chew
my DS1 attended ICR (tampines) for about 1yr9mths where he started off with ICR Preliminary at start of K1 & just completed ICR course.
i would say ICR really helps in reading…which is important for P1 (all the english/maths problem sums require them to at least able to read the instructions and questions…before they are able to answer the qns…)
the Prelim course start with basic phonics and those sounds/consonants etc…in ICR, they will hv spellings on every lessons…the last part was reading…
now he is able to read (n try to figure out the pronounciation himself)…
it will be gd if you send him to enrichment course…coz as a parent myself…i’m not trained with phonics etc…so also dont know how to teach him read…hehe
will send my DS2 to ICR for P1 prep in 2014…hehe
hope this helps you? -
why dun make own flash cards n see if he can rem?
icr uses phonics mtd. i nvr try but u can send him assessmt n ask teacher -
Hi SAHM Chew
You may want to call up ICR to ask them if their teachers are trained to handle children with delayed speeches, and also if the method is appropriate.
Your child will be placed with a class of children. She/he may not benefit as much if special attention is not given. -

My son is lacking beginning sounds n ending sounds in some of his words. The speech therapist is working on this area. Not sure is that part of phonics too. Thats y i am not sure will ICR benefits him since they are using phonics too.why dun make own flash cards n see if he can rem?
