Your gal went for the intensive 5 day course? or the normal GEP sessions?

Heard that they promise a $150 reward for those who get into GEP

In this case, won't know the boy is really Gifted by Nature or get in after Drill....drill.....drill...
At risk, wheather the boy can cope once in P4?? Parents got to think twice.
But those who get in without Prep, think more likely will do well and enjoy the programme.

Such kids will probably still do well in GEP, with good attitude, extra enrichments and parental help. It's a fallacy to assume all will do badly. Attitude plays an important part as well.

I disagree with you. GEP is not something that just hard work will get by.

Wow $150! I almost wanted to sign up for the intensive course but my gal did not want to. I was told the 5 day courses was fully booked.

In any case, have to remind our kids not to take the tests so seriously. If one has given all his/her best, take the failure in stride and move on..one must learn to overcome failure and realise that life is more than just getting good grades

As a bystander, may I ask a candid question?

What’s the difference between a parent who sends her kid to GEP preparation class vs one who buys those GEP assessment books and prepares her kid on her own? For the latter, if the kid qualifies, will she also struggle in P4?

Seeing how things here can get misinterpreted sometimes, I wish to reiterate that I’m only curious to hear differing views, not veering towards any sides at all.

U can't call it a failure when another 8 out of 10 also donch get chosen eventually!

I don’t really believe in the gep preparatory class. How to prepare the kids when u don’t even know wat kind of questions they are testing? My 2 children went through the round 2, none can really recall the questions.

So my advice is don’t waste yr money. Just bring yr children to the lib as often as possible when young. Let them read all types of books.

I also hope tt the questions tested in the gep selection test are different fr what these centres are coaching.

No one is a failure here. They are top 10% of the P3 cohort. To get there is already an achievement.

Those that get in are really the Cream de la cream-1%. They r then given different exposure.

So please don't call your DS or DD failures should they not make it. They r a part of us.. If u call them as such, aren't u also one!! No offence.
