          A wooden block of side of 4cm was cut into 8 smaller cubes of side of 2cm. If 1 litre of paint is required to paint the uncut wooden block, how many litres of paint is needed to paint the 8 smaller cubes?

          Pl help...

          area of uncut cube is 4*4*6=96cm2
          area of eight cubes is 2*2*6*8=192cm2
          192/96=2
          96cm2 -------- 1liter
          192cm2 needed 2 liters.

          ans by ds ๐Ÿ˜„

          another way to solve is to count how many sides of 2cm x 2cm are there
          uncut: 4 x 6 = 24
          cut: 6 x 8 = 48
          24 sides --> 1 L
          48 sides --> 2 L

            Hi,

            Please help with the question below:-
            In a class, 2/5 of the pupils liked golf and 7/9 of the remaining pupils liked tennis. The rest of the pupils liked soccer, how many pupils were there in the class altogether?

            Thanks.

              Hi,

              Need help with this question.

              Charlene and Denise have the same number of stickers. After Charlene gave away 16 stickers and Denise gave away 52 stickers, Denise has 1/3 as many stickers as Charlene. How many stickers did Charlene have at first?

              Thank you!

                Hereโ€™s another one:-

                Mrs Lim wants to give her grandchildren some sweets.

                If each grandchild gets 4 sweets, there would be 3 sweets left over.
                If each grandchild gets 6 sweets, Mrs Lim would need 9 more sweets.
                a) How many grandchild does Mrs Lim have?
                b) How many sweets does Mrs Lim have?

                Please help cos by the time they come back with the correct answer from school is too late already.

                    I dont know how to do it but I asked DD1 to try.

                    total sweets is 4u + 3 = 6u - 9
                    which is 2u = 12
                    a) so u = 6 grandchildren
                    b) 4u + 3 = 27 sweets

                        2/5 of $480= $192 on bag
                        left $480 - $192 = $288
                        1/4 of $288 = $72
                        Total spent on handbag and dress = $192 + $72 = $264
                        Total spent on blouses = $488 - $264 = $ $216
                        Each Blouse = $216/4 = $54
