I agree with minty totally. I cannot wait for the day I can do without maid. Pay high salary and agency fees and still get problems from them. Abit like tuition, pay through your nose and yr child grades still not improving.

Haha. Tuition fees cost a lot these days so if can do without maids, it will be good. Besides, read a lot of problematic issues with maids so I rather do without one.

        33mama:

does anyone knows if there is maid for hire on weekdays from like 1.30pm to 5.30pm (prepare lunch for primary school children, clean the house, cook dinner)?

Maybe you can try to ask around your neighbours? There are some SAHMs who are willing to do these for a small fee.

Maybe SAHms may be willing but not maid...bcos their employers may not be willing to let their maids out of the house when kids return from school.

Dear mummies, how do you get your hubbies to chip in? I feel that I'm already doing Soo much so when hubby remarked that he is tired from work when asked to do some housework, I feel like roaring at him!I'm working and I need to do housework as well as looking after the kid!but I know if I do so, we will just end up feeling frustrated with one another but I'm really very angry!

Share the chores? Actually, it also depends on your husband's job. If his job needs frequent OTs, etc.. Then give him less chores.

I think if men had been helping his mum with housework before marriage will be more willing to help out the wife. But if he doesn’t have the habit then it will take a lot of nagging to move him in that direction.

Actually without maid, I don’t worry about cooking. I only worry about hsework because I like a clean Hse especially a clean toilet. If my toilet stink, my temper will stir.

For cooking, just cut meat and chicken to whatever qty you require for one meal before freezing. Chop and diced enough garlic and ginger for one 5 days. Sometimes u can marinate the meat first and freeze it. Prepare wonton and freeze it. Use premix for marinating if running out of time during weekends.

Why will your toilet stink? If always flush the toilet after use, it is ok. Get the fresheners. Then after do big business need to spray it. We only wash our toilets once a week.

Cheer up pals! Actually it is not that bad and those of you thinking of going maid-less, you would cope eventually. Initially, it was tiring but I guessed it was my own doing. I wanted everything, everywhere clean and tidy. That time, dont know about gadgets like irobot. Everything manual.

I used to keep a note book, recording the date on which the toilet/kitchen/floor/etc was cleaned. Just to make sure that I clean each of them at least once a week and also to monitor how often/high maintenance these areas need.

When pressed for time, I send my hubby’s business shirts/pants to the laundry shop.
I also switched to clothes requiring less ironing.

I also gave away my aquarium and plants… Haiz, no time, all cca gotta go.

See which are requires the most effort from you and then brainstorm the solution. Come here and share your solution and problem!

If I ask hubby to do work, I have to be prepared to close both eyes.

His mother spoils the sons…so they never did housework. To make things worse, his feet are sticky. So I made him wear bedroom slippers.

When we had maid, he was really heartache maintaining one. So when I told him I didn’t want maid, he was all for it…but my condition was he had to help out. His ‘job’ is to keep/fold dry laundry everyday, iron uniforms/his long sleeve shirts & mop the floor. If I cook, he washes.

I am particular about toilet & clothes…so must wash everyday. Bed sheets and towels once a week.

My hubby’s job, in terms of household chores, is to keep his own mess to the minimum level. So far, I have to say, he’s neat, clean and tidy. Although he does nothing, in terms of household chores, since he doesn’t mess up the place, I think it’s ok. Besides, I make him pay for everything. If I have to do everything, it’s only fair he pays for everything. Teo boh?

                        I love what you said.

The recent time I spring cleaned was on the last day of son's PSLE.
Have been tolerating his room for 9 months.
When I make hubby clear his drawers of plugs, cables, wires etc etc, he just empties into another container  NO difference at all.

Honestly, not having maid is really shiok. Lots of privacy and freedom.
Don't have to pay so much to maintain a useless maid, endure her black face and also high blood pressure facing her. CAN DIE.
