PIE Accident 14Oct

:yikes: :yikes: saw this on youtube, how a car accident on one side caused another on the other side.

:yikes: :yikes:

:scared: :yikes: I was wondering how come the cars were on diff side of the e'way
-

Just thinking aloud... if the car has a heavy body (say higher end car or continental car), will it flip? Assuming driving at the same speed. :scratchhead: -
xfx:
I dun think the make of the car matter. That car that turtled is a Hyundai Matrix if I am not wrong. That car has a high CG and hence, when the rock caused it to swirl to its side, the forward momentum coupled with the high CG caused it to flip. I believe if it has been a sedan, it might not have flipped.

:yikes:
The driver on the opposite side must have got overwhelmed and lost control of his vehicle. :nailbite: -
- The car at the other side clashed into the divider
- The impact sent some hard objects (eg. rocks, pebbles whatever) flying in the direction of the forward moving car and smashed its windscreen into smithereens
- Its driver could not see where he was going or could even be hurt by the flying hard objects
- Lost control of the car
:scratchhead: -
Picolo:
my take :- The car at the other side clashed into the divider
- The impact sent some hard objects (eg. rocks, pebbles whatever) flying in the direction of the forward moving car and smashed its windscreen into smithereens
- Its driver could not see where he was going or could even be hurt by the flying hard objects
- Lost control of the car
:scratchhead:
The car on the other side lost control while swerving round the bend at a fast speed and hit the divider
The impact sent part of the concrete divider which flew onto the side of the Matrix, pushing it towards the left.
THIS IS THE KEY POINT here
The driver panicked and reacted instinctively by braking hard, which caused the MATRIX to swerved hard and itself then hitting the divider.
This resulted in the front being caught onto the dicider somewhat and the momentum just flipped the rather lightweight MATRIX over.
The impact and damage on the right side of his car could not be avoided, but if he had not braked hard, his car would not have swerved as it did and in all probability NOT topple over then.
It is similar to when driving on a rainy and slippery road OR when one of your tyre burst suddenly when driving at high speed, and you jammed on the brake hard to avoid an accident - your car will swerved uncontrollably to the side.
His mistake was jamming onto the brakes when the debri rock hit his car. The driver was not 'zai' enough. He should have held his steering wheel tightly and try to steady his car and slow down gradually. -
Strparent:
this driver could hv been hurt by the windscreen or the flying object that flung on his windscreen... if his sight is blocked or blur, natural instinct is to brake as u dunno who u might hit or where u r going...

Scarryyyy…
My husband says better to drive in the centre lane instead.
