Club Only Child Club

i’ve a 5yo and to be complete honest, he was an accident. i never planned to have kids at all. but here’s my 2 cents worth anyway…
1) i don’t have many relatives and the ones i have aren’t kay-poh, but if i had to, i’d say that i want to stop at one.
2) i never wanted 1 so i don’t have any inferiority complex regarding this.
3) i’d say, u can play with your cousins or with your friends.
4) i taught mine to be independent and he’s naturally reserved, so I don’t face much of a problem.
5) i enrolled him in one of julia gabriel’s classes as soon as he was able to go so that he can get some interaction from other kids and adults. he seemed to enjoy it.
6) erm… yeah mine doesn’t really want to share, but the school was really into ‘take turns’ so he slowly learned. Also, I’ll bring him out with my friends’ kids so as he plays with them, he learns to share from there.
Hope that you will be able to work things out.
I feel that you just need to be proud of yourself and what you’ve accomplished. You don’t have to care so much about what other people think. Your family is yours. You make the decisions. No one else has the right to say anything or influence you.
If i had cared so much about what other people think, I would be dead 6 yrs ago. -

Hi Imami, I'm lucky that my DS's childcare teacher found that one of his eyes wasn't focused on a person/object when he was talking or looking at the person/object. And she alerted us thinking that he may have \"lazy\" eye. That prompted us to bring him for an eye-check at the Polyclinic. After consultation with the GP, the diagnosis was that he may have stabismus or what we term as \"lazy eye\". A referral was given and we brought him to the KK Hospital Eye Centre to have his eyes checked by the Optometrists there. Various tests was done and it took abt 4 hrs. The end result was that my boy has myopia, astigmatism and strabismus/lazy eye. An advice to all parents, get your kid's eye sight checked as early as 3 yrs old.Miuz:
Hi, anyone with young kids who are wearing glasses? My 4 yr old boy is recently found to be myopic and has been wearing glasses abt 1+mth. Any advice on how to teach the child to take gd care of his glasses? I keep telling him not to remove his glasses unless teachers at childcare or myself and hubby is around to help him but at times he still tries to remove the glasses himself. N barely 2mths his glasses are kinda crooked aldy. Need to go back to the optician to get it back to shape.

Hi miuz, how did you realize that your kid needs glasses? One of my worries about my child is him being myopic. As I read your post, I begin to imagine him wearing glasses and getting them damaged while he is in childcare (nobody to guide him on his glasses and his garmen I.e mummy not around).... :faint: -

Hi Flowermonaster, I got my boy the Swissflex plastic frame glasses. Its quite good actually. He's quite rough and careless in handling them but fortunately after repeated reminders n teachings he's gotten better at handling the glasses and understands that its important that he handles it with care. tks for the adviceMiuz:

Hi Miuz, try to get him the plastic frame & not those thin metal frame. The plastic frame is more durable. My DS used to wear those thin metal frame glasses & I need to get them change half yearly. After changing to plastic frame, he has been wearing for nearly a year without causing any major \"harm\" to the spectacles.

I'm an only child but compensated for the lack of peers with close friendships in church and my school CCAs. My parents could not have other children due to age. It's very commendable that you have your child's welfare at heart.
Hi lillliputt, how you feel being the only child? Do you feel stress as you r your parents only support when they age? I constantly worry about this issue. My DS is not concern at this point as he is only 12, enjoying being the one & only as no siblings to fight for parents' attention. -
Flowermonaster:
Aiyo do not worry so much lar. Having more kids not necessary all would be sharing the burden of support the old ppl lor these days I think.lilliputt:

Your boy is still too young to realize any impact to him. -
