I know orthodontics can be very expensive and some private dental clinics charge an arm or a leg. My aunt paid an average of about $5K for each of her kid. Total spent on her 2 teenage kids, a whopping $10,000. :yikes:

Thank goodness my 3 kids have fairly straight teeth or else will burn a big hole in my pocket. :xedfingers:

But the school dental unit at the National Dental Centre at Outram will give highly subsidized rates for doing braces. My daughter went there for recent check-up with specialist - ended up with filling of cavity - all free! plus if she needs to do braces, would cost about $1,000 but if you check the pte clinic rates, it will go into several thousands!! Better use government subsidies while you're still entitled šŸ˜‰

NDc is not sch dental. It's HPB, opp NDC provide sch dental. They dont do braces only write recommendation letter. We can use the letter at either NDC or Pte clinic. NDC will be cheaper as it's govt agency. Only concern is the q is long. It'll be longer wait.

Just to clarify. My DD went to School Dental Centre located at 4th floor of HPB. Usually you need to be referred by the school dental to see the dentist at the SDC. But when you have emergency situation like severe pain and the dental nurse at the school is not available, you can just call the SDC or walk in for emergency treatment. The DD was referred to see the specialist who was recommending her to do braces and told us it would cost us about $1,000. I wasn't told of how long the wait is. Basically, if you want fast treatment and you have no appointment, go at 7.30am and get a queue number and you'll be attended to within 1-2 hrs. DD had X-ray done, cavity filled and it was free.

Donkey years back, mum paid $2K...can pay by installments. My teeth were really horrible, so many growing and yet no space....never forget how I had to get 6 teeth removed...3 on upper jaw at one go...my hair is standing on ends just thinking about it now :scared:

Teeth were straightened very fast...about 12 months...then wore a retainer to keep in place. I was so happy bcos it was beautiful...told myself, the pain was worth it.

My elder boy has an adult tooth growing behind a non-shaky milk tooth at the lower jaw.

Can someone recommend a dentist skilled in exracting non-shaky milk tooth?

We also need to take an x-ray of the upper jaw again. The previous one we took at a Q&M showed no adult tooth at the upper jaw to match the lower jaw adult tooth.

We might also need recommendation for braces.

                        Many thanks in advance.
