Green-apple:
Is the bag big enough to hold his textbooks. If your boy has not outgrown the cartoons, I guess it's alright unless your school says otherwise.Dear All,
Asking the same topic again, my son is turning P1 next year, i did not buy any school bag for him yet and not intend to. Because, last Xmas, he received 5 different \"cartoon\" bag. Mickey, Spiderman...etc But the problem is, can he bring those to P1? He is going to CH.
How? -
xian_kai:
Taught basic money concept and time reading. Ensure he knows how to spell school name and know the chinese name of the school. Remind him to check all stuff taken after lessons. Tell him if bored while waiting for others to complete work, to take out paper to draw instead of walking around class or talking. Remind him to jot down notes and announcement etc. Told him how proud I am that he going p1. Tell him to avoid junk food and cold drinks during recess. Told him about bookshop and tell him to let us know what he wants to buy instead of impulse buy etc :hugs:My DS2 will be going to West Grove Pri next year. Hope he can cope.
How are you all preparing your kids for the transition? -

Mine likes to talk in class regardless wht he has an audience or not. He has complaint from Kindy teachers, principal, ICR teacher, Berries teacher and even the swimming coach. His kindy pricincipal said he has a \"motor\" mouth. Tho' I dun like the \"naming\" in Kindy, I do agree that describe him.

mine is in a kindergarten that is i say quite academic. the teacher did a good job in disciplining the kids :yikes: when they go out of line. they also have a fair share of teachers who use praises to get kids to behave. we are lucky to have alternate types of teachers since N1! (N1 ds2 spent a lot of time in timeout corner..that he detests school, N2 met a great T and Assistant T, K1 got the same T as N1 and went back to being a regular at timeout corner :faint: - even have a group of 'timeout' friends and can even joked that they will walked around the class quietly when T went out for a while :faint: , and K2 he got a fantastic T who made him Class Monitor for a term and now he busy trying to control class than paying attention in class...but at least he behaves

Wow Jedamum! Pretty good checklist, I must say! Never cross my mind to remind ds2 to take note of these useful advice, but will do so :thankyou:

Doubt he can keep quiet though (except in chinese class & the teacher made them write lines for misbehaving - nyack nyack). He can't sit still either :slapshead:
Anyway, he's going for orientation this Fri, so hope he likes the new school. He has been telling me a few times that he doesn't wish to change school... but I told him he'll meet many more friends next time and we can invite them over for playdates :hugs:

thanks for the tips! will keep those in mind.
how time flies. DD will have her graduation in 3wks time. a little over 2months she'll be in Primary. im still a bit anxious on how i can prepare her more. she's an only child so i say im a helicopter mom. but she's quite excited to be in primary and i know she'll adapt very well. i guess mommy is the one who needs training and preparation.

Haiz, mine never detests school altho' he is often being \"punished\". His record this year was punished for 4 consective days in Kindy by FT, Chinese T, Church Volunteer Teacher and Principal. The Principal sent him standing outside the classroom..imagine how much he had talked to deserve that???

Even the swimming coach said he talks too much...
I am not hopeful he will get an understanding P1 teacher next year, in fact, i tink he will get punished more often...Pri sch teachers are not so \"forgiving\" compared to Kindy teachers. Can't blame them entirely cos he/she has to handle a big class. If everyone starts to talk, imagine the noise level???
I am hoping he will be mature engf by this year end..but kind of difficult... -
Just chance upon this group. My DS is also born in 2006. Next year to P1. How time flies? We had just attended his graduation and almost cried after seeing the schoolβs presentation slides showing his transformation from toddler to K2. Boy being boy. My son also had his fair share of being "outstanding"βaka standing outside of class for being naughty. Really going to miss the carefree times with him. No stress and no homeworksβ¦ Not sure how I can cope with primary school.

Zoolet
Lol. We have outstanding kids ah? Lol.
I think I will cry too at the graduation. Because of the difficultywe faced when he first started school, speech delay and whatnot, he really has grown up quite a lot.
I attended the graduation last year as he was performing. The atmosphere is very different from ds1 pcf graduation. Really can have the graduation feel and not only some ceremony. -
DS juz graduated last saturaday
