PSLE leave: For or Against?

One of my friend whose son is in sec 1 IP program decided on this route bcos of skipping O levels. Her son was coached extensively last year, went for interviews at many schools to try for DSA. Got 4 A* for PSLE. Now truly regretted, but can’t get out.

Can he try to get trf to another school? If PSLE results good, shd still be able to trf. Better do early. Wait till yr 3 or 4 then too late. But I also know of some parents don't want kid to trf sch cos scared lose face :sad:

i'm for the PSLE leave and hopefully my company can implement it by the year after when dd in P6....


without the PSLE leave there are already so many parents taking leave during the exam not only for P6 but other lower levels too.... be it for last min coaching, make sure no TV/games and kids got enough rest ppl are doing it for their kids whether it is right or wrong and don't bother it really help the kid or not....

so if the company can allocate PSLE leave, the staffs can save their annual leave for holiday.... :rahrah:

Friend wanted to get out...approached principal of school and was informed that once accept DSA, even if PSLE results are very good, the child has to abide by rules...that is, STAY.


When she heard of this DSA thing, she just thought of skipping O levels and secure a place for son in order to reduce stress before taking PSLE.
Apologies if i mix up IP and DSA :oops: :razz: my son done with PSLE and I still don't know anything about these terms. Personally I believe in safe route...to be kiasi.

Like that then employ more people to cover those on leave, then cut pay to pay all the additional staff cost also. If family time so important then parents shd be willing to make these sacrifices, so win win for everyone lor............. :rotflmao:

What is annual leave? These are leave that allow you to take to do whatever personal things you need to attend to. To even ask for additional PSLE leave now, not just the carry forward type implemented by ocbc shows that human is never satisfied......there is no end to this. Don't work better lor.

Actually DSA in, still can trf is sec 2 if have prob. Principal can still stop meh? I thot they only don't allow u to change your mind at the S1 selection ex after PSLE result is out if you DSA in. :?

I really think you got DSA and IP mixed up. Once you've accepted a CO (thru DSA)for a particular school, you cannot change your mind to apply for a better school assuming the kid's PSLE results turn out better than expected. Nothing to do with transfer for IP. That's my understanding.

But I've heard of kids who transfer to normal \"O\" Level track when they found they could not cope with the IP program.

OCBC's PSLE Leave is not additional leaves given. It merely allows you to carry forward a portion of your annual leaves to the next year when your kids will be taking PSLE.

Some people have issues about the term PSLE Leaves. But I personally appreciate the gesture as it allows parents to be able to take leaves during PSLE period, if required or necessary. Don't need to run the risk of being gunned down since Management already endorsed it.

Some schools have dual tracks and you can switch either in Sec 1 or 2.
