      Funz:

Everytime I come to this thread I get a little stressed and feel kinda guilty. You guys are doing a lot with your P1 kiddos. Beyond the giving DS his tingxie and spelling, I have left him pretty much alone. Honestly speaking without year end exams, I also dunno how he is faring.
We don't do that much but our dc do :rotflmao:

Don't get stress out nor guilty ๐Ÿ˜„ , I don't revise tingxie or spelling with DD1, she does the revision on her own. For her homework, she only comes to me if she needs help. Yes, there are the past year papers and assessments but kind of here and there.

I am hapy she doesnt have year end exams, makes P1 more enjoyable. I just gauge her standard with the past year papers.

guess what...after SAHM_TAN mentioned that Daddy D's dd is one of the schools i listed as having difficult papers, i went back to re-read Daddy D's message to see if by 'scary', did he mean 'scarily difficult' or 'scarily easy'. ๐Ÿ˜“ :siam:

I'm starting to think there's double standards for Eng and Chi leh. For Eng we don't seem that hang up abt P1 std or not. For reading we are ok to \"push\" the child to read Harry Potter by P1 but for Chi we seem to be very particular abt whether it's P1 std or not. I mean for both languages I would think the aim is to build the word bank as much as possible. Maybe it's easier for Eng becos most of the words the kids can decipher using phonics but Chi unless the HYPY is printed below the characters, it's very much char recognition.

This is not abt mummyscopio's situation. But it triggered me thinking abt how we view the 2 languages. ๐Ÿ˜„

Maybe we should free our minds. Maybe there's no std. :siam:
