What’s your child’s school policy if your child is sick on exam days (with mc)?

      1. Schedule a re-test
      2. Forfeit the paper and get a zero for missed papers
      3. Forfeit the paper but marks adjusted from previous exam
      4. Child can come down just to sit for paper in a separate room (due to illness)
      5. Others… (please do share)

Retest is more fair. But the paper should be a different one of equal standard. Some students may leak the question without knowing that their friend has not taken the exam.

😞 Precisely verykiasumummy... I'm feeling very troubled now because just received text from teacher that there's NO RE-TEST. And she said it has always been a school policy. I have good relationship with the school and the teachers but this...?

So I'm trying to garner feedback from you guys to see how I should proceed.

Wow chamonix, even without mc? 😞 More sad now..

My whole family is down with gastric flu, yes, even the lil baby. 😢 We have been so knocked out tending to our sick children, sanitize the house, clear the soiled laundry quickly, get them fed and medicated despite being ill ourselves... Now I hafta worry about this. I know my dd2 is going to cry cos she studied so hard. 😞

Thanks for your thoughts PhoBIA… appreciate it.

Yes, if a re-test can be arranged… I’m not kicking a fuss abt a different paper.

My son's school doesn't have re-tests for SAs. Last year he missed sitting for the EL SA2 paper, so the grade was calibrated up to CA2.

CayennePepper, thanks for your well-wishes. We are feeling much better than yesterday but our 6mth old is trying to pull thru his first major illness. He throws up all his milk and has bad diarrhoea. Very sad to see my lil chubby so sick.

Like your DS' school, I was informed my girls' scores will be calibrated as well from past semester's results. The percentage is not made known to us yet as the teacher has to check. They missed MT Paper 2 which they studied really hard for (especially since its a core paper to help with Paper 1) and tomorrow's final paper is Science. 😞
