Janet_lee88.. yes you're right, if both languages are relatively strong, better to boost up the entire score. :xedfingers:

Friend's daughter got 2 A* for English and Chinese...that pulled up the overall. But then, Math and Science has to be in the A range.

slmkhoo, you are fortunate that you had alternatives but for us who don't we just make good of what we can derive from the system.. work around it. 😉

Feeling much much better janet_lee88... :snuggles: Thanks for asking. No more nausea and not so scared to fart now. :rotflmao: Chubs still has diarrhoea and DD2 still has fever + diarrhoea. The baby is looking good. Has started to retain his milk feeds. I've just mopped the house twice this morning. My place smells like a hospital. :rotflmao:

Yeh at times perceived greener grass ain't really green, but still you had alternatives. My friend's kids in NZ are happily settled and they email me to say how they love not having exam..... all the time. Learning for pure learning. They learn outdoors too sometimes. 😄 My friend and her hubby doesn't give two hoots abt PSLE nor having a guide for it at all. Taking them out of the system just means they can take up another to their kids' advantage as they have time to pursue other interests.

My girls are happy school-going children and that's still important to me. Stress? A bit of stress is good. Builds resilience (keep improving if underperforming).. encourages motivation.. fire up drive.. indirectly teaches them that the ladder to success is long and challenging but can make it not only by working hard and but also by working smart.. and yet still remember to play as hard when it's chill time.

Glad to hear that you can mop twice 😆
On the road to recovery, for sure.

Actually, I think it was harder for us than if we had been in Singapore? At least, I feel I had to work harder because my daughter didn't have anyone else to guide her to prepare for the PSLE. I didn't even have a system to work around, if you see what I mean. Anyway, I suppose the grass is always greener... All the best in your kids' PSLE journeys.

I am overseas now, and I agree with simkhoo about it being harder. In Singapore, I could just leave everything to the school, and maybe top-up here and there with external classes. But now...I have to teach, and I am not a teacher, can't find anyone to help me \"top up\". Don't even have time to teach in between doing all the chores. No support system at all. If we were going to be here for a long long long time, then maybe I could relax and leave it to the local schools. But we are not here for that long, and the kids will have to face the PSLE someday. So we struggle on.

My eldesis will be P3 next year. Can’t self study! So far P2 work has been easy, but as we progress to P3 and P4, I think if we don’t keep up with the MOE syllabus, it will be too much to catch up on. And I still have two younger ones to worry abou!

Your daughter sounds so disciplined to work on her own and do her one hour of work. My son complains after 15mins! Also he has his local school work to do, so by the time we get down to Mummy’s work, he’s itching to go outside and play.
