Yes there is a risk that you may not get your 1st choice.

If u only put 1 choice, and happen that the school is very high demand & no vancancy. Will MOE post u only after allocated those with 2nd , 3rd choice first. just like Pr 1 phC. Is there a risk?[/quote]

well, if at the north, eg Woodlands the nearest boys school would be Catholic, next ACS and Girls schools would be RGPS.

Think most will be able to get in.

We too :celebrate: Just put 1 choice & say die die must go there, otherwise will opt out  Ya, DS2's classmates from all over the island but kids get used to it, just that they may sometimes feel very tired... mine gets up at 5.30 am and reach home 7.00 pm everyday, so after dinner, sleeps .... and yes, I definitely complain a lot about the distance šŸ˜‰
Which school does he go to? Is it common for GEP curriculum to take up a whole day (even if its a different school)? Does he has time to complete any of his school work at home?

Not really, GEP curriculum does not take up the whole day and all 9 GEP schools will have the same programmes, same exam papers. He does most of his work in school as the school does not allow them to bring back & most of the work has to be done in class with the exception of projects. I get to see only some of them when I need to sign for his filing.

FYI, filing is an important task in GEP in which DS2 'suffers' because basically, he is a messy person and couldn't care less for filing. :faint:

If you put only one choice, and that school has no vacancy, MOE will post you to the school nearest you which has a vacancy. It's happened many times previously. For eg someone living in the East who put NYPS as his only choice was eventually sent to Tao Nan.

Estimate 500 will be offered on GEP program. Maybe MOE would put in certain percentage of extra places in the event those not taking up the GEP prog & choose to remain in the current school.

There's no waitlist for GEP. If say only 300 students decided to take up GEP, then only those 300 will be in GEP for that cohort.

They should be able to complete work in school or home. There are times when homework is challenging that there could be some stress.

The programme is structured by MOE. he teachers have regular meeting sessions to discuss and standardise marking.

DS is a bit disorganised. His table was very messy and he was constantly seen fumbling in a sea of papers. :imdrowning: However his teachers were very impressed with his filing. I guessed it is a way to keep them organised and focused.

if u put down only 1 choice (eg: Nanyang very hot & popular because it is co-ed and also parents hoping to transfer their younger sibling in and if there is no vacancy in Nanyang ) and you stay in the east -
MOE v likely post your child either to Tao Nan (Marine Parade) or St Hilda (Tampines); whichever that still have vacancies.

For kids staying in woodlands/yishun, most of them were posted to rosyth.
