Tanjong Katong Primary

hello,
My DS will be for 2014 P1 intake and planning for TKPS or Ngee Ann.
Both of these come within 1km of my house in marine Drive.
Any parent has any recommendation? Which is better in terms of academic areas, disclipine, character development?
Thanks. -
Hi,
I've a son in P1 this year and the reason I chose TKPS was because I noticed that the school has produced pretty impressive PSLE results for a new school. (I'm a true-blue Singaporean so cannot run away from seeing results)
Check out the links for a comparison of last year's PSLE result between TKPS and NAPS.

My son is enjoying school very much. His teachers are stern but yet caring. They have more boys in the school because the nearby girls' schools (Haig and CHIJ) have absorbed quite a number of females but the teachers do seem to know how to deal with the boys.
They are strong in their sports CCAs and I believe that students build their character through their CCAs. They will learn how to work in teams and how to be more resilience and to excel in what they do. Hope this helps. -

Good morning:)
Can I confirm that the Orientation for TKPS Primary 1 is 10 Nov 2012? What time??
Do you know what is the schedule like; do they have mass briefing for parents and children for p1 curriculum? Can we talk to the bus operators? and will there be CCAs on display too?
Comfort Delgro is the defacto bus operator TKPS. -
Can anyone share with me experience with allied educators at Tanjong katong Primary School and Ngee Ann Primary? Are these schools supportive when dealing with children with special needs such as mild case of ADHD?

Hi could any parent share what time is the Orientation for P1 on Saturday, 10th Nov? How long is it?
Also what will take place during the Orientation? -
Hi Im a mother who is looking for a school that will be well rounded yet academially strong enough to get my son into a good decondary school like RI or Victoria. My son is born in 2007 and hubby was a ex-haid boys. Altho I have an easy entry in school, I am keen to hear from parents re the schools history.
Some parents pointed out that there is not much evidence on the school capability like awards or toppers etc
Having said that I do know that the school is not everything and the child needs the close coaching and full support from parent for all 6 years.
One more thing re the fact that the school is not affiliated.
Is that something to worry about? Hope my decsion to stick to this school is not incorrect or just taking the easy way out as I dont need to ballot.
Any feedback on prior experience or details of school stats (like how many students ended up in good secondary schools like RI and VS) will be appreciated.
Please help this kiasu and ambitious mother!! ::))))) -
Hi Mama Ambitious, if you are looking around that area of Tanjong Katong Primary that has the most number of students to VS and RI, based on asking around friends and ex students of these schools - I feel Tao Nan has more no of students who qualify for these top schools vs TKPS.
This is what I gather…perhaps you want to look at Tao Nan:) -
Thanks but I understand that for tao nan Chinese must be a first language and for me it is not.
We have chosen hindi as mother tongue. Does that mean no our primary schools in this area?
Should u be looking at moving house to get closer to the good schools like
Acs?
Is gongshang primary a good school to get quality results?
Thanks so much for ur feedback! Appreciate it!! -
Ngee Ann for boys or CHIJ Katong for girls:)
