That’s what I thought so too. Employers are supposed to be the one paying for the renewal of passport.

For everyone’s information, I paid $300 for Myanmar’s maid’s passport. It seems that of all nationality, Myanmar’s passport renewal cost the most!!! Can’t believe Indonesia only $50!!!

My maid and I just went to Indon Embassy 3 weeks back and it was stated on the board that renewal of passport is $35. Anyway, my maid said that it'll cost about S$60++ to renew in Indon.

$50 is inclusive of photos. Did you take photos there ? How much does it cost now ?

BTW, for Indonesia maid passport renewal, my impression is that the employer must do it PERSONALLY. The agent or family member cannot do it on their behalf. I think this is because the contract between the maid and employer need to be sign on the spot as well.


I recalled that when I did it in Sept this year, there was a auntie who came with her son’s maid. They were not appropriately dress (shorts and slippers) so had to borrow clothes to enter the embassy. In addition, she was definitely ill informed of all the processes.

The renewal is not that painful so long as you prepare the information in advance (eg. maid’s family details,etc…) and personally spend time at the embassy. It took us 1/2 day. Collection was a breeze.

If you ask maid agencies to renew the passport, you still need to spend half a day at the embassy and go through the interview. The maid agency still charge you $300.
