      mummies.

i think we have to employ the soft approach...
i brought him out and play whole day on his last day of exams.
i also bought him a present before his results were all out.
he is so happy to spend time with me and....to receive a coin box from me. he said his classmates had stuff like laptop, wii, galaxy note, iphone promised by their parents for good results, but a simple gift from me is just as good.
i had to remind myself that we only have 2 years left before teenage years hit us hard and take away our baby. 😞

          Champion:
          lego:

Just last wednesday, dd complained that it was the worst day of her life. I asked her why and the answer was \" I have to revise Chinese the whole day.\" (The next day was her chinese paper)

Yesterday, they were asked in class who would like to take higher chinese in P5 and she raised her hand. I had to remind her that it was the worst day of her life last Wednesday! 😂

          :snuggles: :hugs: lego,

talking about HCL, i was told by dd’s CL T that only 1/3 of whole SG P5 are offered HCL… is it true? how do they control or allocate the number to each school?

:goodpost: I think it's good to reward the children for the efforts shown, rather than tie it to the results.

Dd brought back her English paper results on the last day of her exams. Although I was disappointed that she failed the open ended comprehension section, we went ahead with our \"celebration\" and rewarded her accordingly. The reason being that I can see that she had put in a lot of effort for this SA2 exam.

Conversely, dd's maths and chinese results are better this SA2 and yesterday, she jokingly asked if she will get a \"reward\" for it. I told her the good results that she get IS her reward. 😂 😉

we have yet to get back EL results. there was a dip in results for science and math (minimal), but we were not alarmed as it is within our expectations and he did not get tuition for these 2 subjects. we are very happy with the improvement in CL results - 5 points (attributed to compo and oral; he scored the same for Paper2 in SA1). that was on top of having sat a compo topic that he has not done/read before and also the oral picture topic was something not seen in any of our assessment books. besides justifying the hefty financial commitment for tuition, the intensive weekly work he did (he spends on average 3 days a week on CL, while the rest of the subjects are 1x a week revision), my boy can see the fruits of his labour. i hope he will be motivated to keep up the hardwork. :rahrah:

Today is the last day of school for DS2 (his school has only 8 weeks in Term 4).. :rahrah: 🕺

For the 1st time in 2 years, DS2 got above 90 marks.. DS2 got 92/100 for Science (56/60 for Section A, 36/40 for Section B).. I don't know how DS2 did it.. DS2 says he also doesn't know how he did it.. One thing for sure, DS2 has a very good and dedicated Science teacher in school.. 😄

The other 3 subjects range from 80 to 84 marks (DS2's usual range, always missing the Band 1 mark)..

DS2 is going to his friend's house after school to play.. Yes, play soccer, play cards, play Wii.. Just play!!! I will rest & relax at home, coz feeling too tired to go anywhere.. Maybe will try to catch up on my beauty sleep.. Haha! 😉 :snooze:

really! good teachers make a lot of difference in terms of effective teaching and sometimes a motivation coach. :rahrah:

Congrats to your DS' improvement in his CL results.. :rahrah:

DS2's weakest subject is Chinese too.. May I ask what did you do to help your DS improve in his Chinese? Does he have tuition for Chinese?

All the Best to your DS' EL results.. :boogie: 😄

he has tuition for chinese.... 😓
and yet i am still looking for ways to help improve his chinese.
this is an encouragement to us that he is willing to apply what has been taught. i have yet to :spank: him on getting wrong for MCQ compre...he said question is tricky, not careless mistake. IMO MCQ compre is giveaway marks ah! answer already given...just choose the correct one based on passage! :faint:
