She cited 5 instruments that she's interested in learning. Drum is one of the instruments :nailbite:

What were the other four and which has she learn? How old was she when she showed interest in the 5 instruments?

She decided on the 5 instruments when she was 4yo, before she started learning piano at 5yo.

Still struggling with her 1st instrument piano le, been learning for >3 years 😓 She said she will take pick up violin immediately after passing grade 8 piano (learning grade 5 now).

The others are drum, guitar and flute. However, recently she told me she may have to reconsider flute because there's a higher risk of throat infection for wind instruments :rotflmao:

Even between Keyboard and Piano, there is a bit of difference when playing on them. But don't buy unless your child is firm. :moneyflies:

Reading through the posts, it suddenly came back to me how my then infant loved to punch the keys on the toy pianos (quite big but they are toys). This was what got me into the “I must let you learn piano” mode. The toy pianos became white elephants after we shifted to our current place and were forgotten. Ok, I will get it done tonight!

My dd2 was totally into drum when she was a baby. Boi, she was so enthusiastic & really enjoyed herself making so much noice. We were relieved when she finally destroyed her toy drum set :rotflmao:

:rotflmao: u r funny! The part on she destroyed her drum :rotflmao: I can imagine! My hubby kept asking me to to reconsider when I told him I shd get a toy drum set for our kid. He said he didn't want to end up 家破人亡。

FYI, I couldn't stand noise. I have sensitive ears (those who could hear the needle drop... My mum was a seamstress and I used to tell her that her needles had dropped.) so it would be very painful to have a toddler drumming all the way at home.

Oh that I know - keyboard and piano sound different. But yes, I shall keep your comment in mind. Whenever I say,\"we shd get a good piano once and for all since the place we live is really unsuitable for moving big pieces of furniture.\", my hubby would roll his eyes and say 你有钱也不要这样!" He thinks I am :siao: to fork out $$ to buy a u1.

I am not sure if I am the odd one. Actually I don’t have any Illusion about my kid learning music. Deep down, I have this strong feeling that he is not musically inclined and that even if he really learn to play a musical instrument, chances are he will not go very far (if grading can be a gauge, then I think I would have strike toto million dollar angbao draw - 1 winner - if he can reach grade 8). I just hope he has been given a fair opportunity and that he gives himself a chance to know music and himself better.

Not sure where I read it from. Something like.... If a child learns music, his/her IQ immediately increased by 10. Not really sure what it means. But should be beneficial for the child, I guess. Probably, that is also a reason why many parents want their children to learn Music. Will do a search for the article... :siam:
