This is what I found out.

Every time a maid transfer, the agency add additional 2 mths to her loan. Even if she had worked a few days and get transferred, her loan increased by additional 2 months. Worst than borrowing from ah longs.
The objective is to discourage the maid from asking for transfer.
I know of this maid whose initial bank loan was 8 mths, get transferred 3 times, her bank loan is now 14 mths, so she had to work 14 mths for free!
The agency said that this is approved by MOM.
And this is how agency make money. 😂

        Hi mistral77,
this is how the agency make $$...whether the employer wants to chg maid or the maid herself wants to transfer out for what ever reason.
We both lose out ..the agency make $$ :frustrated:
Thats y sometime maids prefer to find their own employers rather than return to agency to lose 2 more months of salary

I just called MOM. MOM said they cannot control this.

Most of the time, we employers try to tahan the maid, we have more to lose than the maid…all the inconvenience, money and time.

I just need maid to follow instructions and do her job as per contract signed. Who will feel sorry for me when I’m inconvenience? The maids are the ones that cause everything to break down if they don’t follow instructions…break or spoil things and lose our trust. When trust is broken, it’s very difficult to live in the same house and trust them to take care of our house, our loved ones.

The last resort will be to send them back to agency or send them home. I’m not sure that 2 months salary loan added is keeping them in line. I see many maids wanting to choose employers, they just act up and induce the employers to send them back to the agency.

In Hong Kong, the maid is sent home if she does not perform, she is not sent to agency and wait around to pick employers.

Totally agree with you st2. My maid cut corner and caused DH to have a very nasty fall. Bruises, cuts, big gash, half the foot was swollen for a couple of days. This happened on the 3rd day of her arrival. If this is Hong Kong, she would be sent back. But unfortunately, there is nothing I can do about it. And I cannot even claim medical fees or damages from her.

Some maids are like that, cannot follow instructions…kay kiang and just want to do their own way, so annoying. Sorry about your DH.

So how, did you keep this maid?

No, return to agency. Unfortunately nobody wants her cos her attitude and personality comes across during the interview. Agent cannot keep her indefinitely. Last time, when my unsound maid gave trouble, she was sent home by agent as not fit for transfer.

In Singapore, maid agency is like the king. They can do whatever they like and employer have to swallow since they really need the helper. I really pity those young couple with kids and just starting a family and career. Really tough for them.
