A question for all… need ur advices :
If ur Kid can choose whether to take HIGHER chinese… would u if she usually get 70s - 80s marks? I know it’s more for them to take Higher Chinese in Sec. School for SAP school… but if not… what help does it give to the kid?

Will a child be given the option if she usually scores 70s - 80s? I know that they will only be given the chance if they get 80 or 85 and above, not only for CL but for all other subjects as well. This is to make sure that the child is strong in other subjects (as well as CL) inorder for her to cope with the additional.

No need to be envious lah. I won't say that she is proactive cos I am so tired of her calling me in the office to complain of boredom that I asked her to start using the P5 books I bought in Sep using the 20% popular discount voucher.

Maybe girls are more mature than boys. Mine is getting quite sensible these days and aware that P5 will be a big jump. I have informed her some of the changes that will be coming e.g. exam papers will be 200 marks instead of 100 marks. Plus she is also aware that she will need to stay back in school at least 3 times a week. I guess she agrees with me that better do some work in a leisurely maner now rather than start panicking when school reopens and time is always not quite enough.

I think for my DD school, as long as they pass all 4 subjects have the option of Higher Chinese and have reasonably good grades can opt for it from what i heard as they have been learning Higher Chinese all these while?

So me wondering if I should… any advice appreciated… Thanks!

I just read from ACSI thread that there is no incentive to do higher chinese for IP-IB unless want to take third language for year 5 and 6. So either we skip higher chinese totally if I am looking at IB education, or re look at IP-A levels. My concern is that the latter has no dual track while IB schools offer dual track in case kid later want to switch to olevels.

              Decisions, decisions. …

                Mummy trina,

Thanks for sharing… didn’t know P5 is not over 100 but 200 marks!!!
I told my kids to start this holiday since i wouldn’t have as much time w them once school starts and esp when the P5 has band twice a week… on top of other stuff… she’ll be super tired… just now tell her
Let’s start with English 1.5 hr alternate days… she was like ‘HUHUHUHUH??? Don’t want’ erm… and it was her weakest subject!!! Sigh…

Hi, school will assess the student's abilty before offering HCL to them and if it is offered, why not? I was hearten when DD's FT mentioned that school will monitor their progress and if the student can't cope with HCL at SA1, school will advise that he drop it to focus on core subjects. With that, we give it a go.

                    Trina,

Good to let them try some housework. My boy didn’t even know how to boil water till last week! Lol. He on the socket, but not the kettle switch. Got him to cook his own eggs too. He helps me vacuum the floor too.

                    Happy mama
Congrats! What award? Best in english!?

No it's not for English. The highest in standard for English is 96.
As per the School's letter, DD is receiving award for \"Outstanding Academic Achievements for 2012\". 😄
