Guys, do you give your earnings to Wifey to safekeep?
-
Lol. I don give my earnings to my dw. i only gave her allowance to handle household. if not enough, she will ask from me but usually after deducting everything, she still left with some and will keep for herself. lol

DH does not give me any of his earnings. We do have a joint account where we will constantly transfer cash in. That will be used for big ticket items like vacations, reno, house maintenance, etc. We also contribute monthly into our kiddos’ accounts. That will be their college fund. For mthly household expenses, he pays some, I pay some. We don’t really bother about who pays what or more or less. We are aware of each other’s investment portfolio but we manage our finances pretty separately.

my DH is a accountant so he will never allow me to keep his money. he even has a sheet to tabulate his net worth.

I think the main thing to conclude from the contributions here is that it's different strokes for different folks. As long as both are happy with the arrangement, the family is fed and clothed, with some savings and reasonable debt, there is no one-size-fits-all method. For me, I dislike numbers, trust my husband and have no income (SAHM), so I'm happy to let my husband deal with the family finances. He will discuss major items with me before making decisions, but I act mainly as a sounding board. He makes sure I have some accessible funds and investments in my own name too. I just use what I need for family and personal expenditure, and so far we haven't had issues. A good thing is that we both have similar spending and saving patterns, so we don't disagree on most expenditure.
Yah, agree. For DH and myself, we have different spending habits. I will splurge on stuff like food, books. DH is forever complaining that eating out is expensive or why should we pay so much for a mango. He will however not think twice about buying the latest bestest gadgets or toys. So it works well for us that we manage our finances separately. -

I am sahm. DH gives me a sum of allowance every month for everything except his expenses. Sometimes enough, sometimes not enough but I never ask him for more before month end. I will use my own money. Somehow I just don’t like to ask money from DH. Pride, may be.
I don’t know how much he earns (he doesn’t tell me and I didn’t want to ask also). I am fine with that but my friend said I am very stupid! She said I should demand to know how much he earns.
DH is good in saving, and I trust him to save for our retirement. -

I'm the one who doesn't know where my :moneyflies: goes
:nailbite: , so DH doesn't trust me to manage his $$ and our household finance
all goes toward robinson sales.
