Absolute wise, 86% should be an acceptable level. Maybe what you need to do is to compare to her school ? Diff school has diff benchmark. Try to take absolute figures with a pinch of salt... :celebrate:now is report book time.
what would be consider good result in terms of overall %? what did your kids get?
My DD only got 86%. We were rather disappointed.

Can I check with you all - anyone has got the P5 booklist for your child for next year? I just want to find out are there new editions or I can use those that pass down from friends? :thankyou: -
We have only recβd the subject banding form, yet to receive ddβs report book nor the booklist for next year.
Have decided to let dd try higher chinese as offered. Was told that come end of P5, school will re-assess how the students are coping and those who did not do well will be asked to drop higher chinese. -
My ds is not offered to take higher chinese  . He's very glad :rahrah: and we know his chinese usually hovers around Band 2.
However he's the top 10% in his school. Thus, I would like to know if this will put him at a disadvantage later on? Do share your feedback.
Thanks! -

I plan to recycle my DS1 textbook for DS2 next year. Can I know how to check whether there are new editions? Also, since people donated their textbooks, does this means even if it is not the latest edition the kids can still use it?
Thanks! -

:hugs: :snuggles: Hi heyhoe,
Hi Champion,
I plan to recycle my DS1 textbook for DS2 next year. Can I know how to check whether there are new editions? Also, since people donated their textbooks, does this means even if it is not the latest edition the kids can still use it?
Thanks!
I have friends who graciously want to pass me their child(ren) pre-loved P5 textbooks and so now I am waiting for the school book list before deciding whether to collect from them.
I understand for the lower primary next year - esp P1 2013 the Maths and Chinese Textbooks are new editions. -
Yes! P1 math, chinese, even social studies are new! . β¦ book shop lady said only minor changes to chinese ,I have yet to go through the books.

Heyhoe,
From what I read, some schools will only let students who opted for hmt to go top few classes, you need to check how your kid school operate. For us, one of the major consideration is that all students need to stay back on the same week days for chinese lessons regardless of Hmt or Nc. If school only has two set of supplementary curriculum for these two types of classes across the whole cohort , I rather he attends one that can stretch him rather than one who aims to supplement lessons or inculcate interest as we already have tuition to do that. Not sure if I make sense. -
Just received e-mail from DDs' CL subject head and confirms that there will be no change to P5 Chinese Textbooks (Normal & Higher Chinese)
But P1-P4 there are so :moneyflies: to buy new set of Textbooks for my DD2 P2 next year  -

For my DD1's case, FT & CL T both spoke to me last week during the PTM that the HMT will be built into the current curriculum time. All who opt for HMT will be grouped into one class and the rest to the Normal MT class accordingly. I did not ask further on how it gonna be as at that point of time I am still contemplating whether to sign the form for DD1 to take up HMTHeyhoe,

However, DD1 is very keen and she has the confidence to do it
So, DH advises to let her try for one year if at end of P5, this additional subject burdens her down and affects or compromises other subjects' result then we will talk to her again to opt out at P6.
