      Heyhoe,

From what I read, some schools will only let students who opted for hmt to go top few classes, you need to check how your kid school operate. For us, one of the major consideration is that all students need to stay back on the same week days for chinese lessons regardless of Hmt or Nc. If school only has two set of supplementary curriculum for these two of classes, I rather he attends one that can stretch him rather than one who aims to supplement lessons or inculcate interest as we already have tuition to do that. Not sure if I make sense.

For my DD1's case, FT & CL T both spoke to me last week during the PTM that the HMT will be built into the current curriculum time. All who opt for HMT will be grouped into one class and the rest to the Normal MT class accordingly. I did not ask further on how it gonna be as at that point of time I am still contemplating whether to sign the form for DD1 to take up HMT πŸ˜‚

However, DD1 is very keen and she has the confidence to do it πŸ˜„ So, DH advises to let her try for one year if at end of P5, this additional subject burdens her down and affects or compromises other subjects' result then we will talk to her again to opt out at P6.

Let yr DD try since she is so keen, Champion. She shd able to do well, and with yr eagle eyes on her studies, she shd be able to cope. Remember that at least she has a choice later to U-Turn to CL if ( and IF ) there is really a need .

        Hi Jedamum and Champion,

Thanks for your feedback. I found out from the school that only Band 1 students are given the opportunity. The school offers normal chinese from P1-P4. At P5 onwards selected students are given the opportunity, however we still can opt for higher chinese if we insists. At P6 onwards, it is the school's decision.

Lesson will be taught after school. Normal chinese will be taught during school hours. Only remedial class will be given for normal chinese.

Anyway, I guess I have to respect my DS wish and trust the teacher's recommendation. All the best to those taking higher chinese πŸ™‚

Jedamum, my gal completed exams in first week of Oct and has been playing and reading since then. 4 weeks of that seems to be quite enough. Can't play much with DD2 since she is still a baby. Not really into computer games and doesn't watch much tv. Am getting to do \"projects\" such as researching on places to visit during hols. I am also training her to do housework eg cooking noodles and mopping floor so we can work towards a maid-less situation in near future.

These are brilliant ideas! My dd already helps me with holiday planning and does her own holiday journal when we go travelling. Always interesting to read her comments, amuse me no end... πŸ˜‰

For this hols, our goal is for her to learn how to use the stove and make her favourite food, egg sandwich (omelette style). We are also gonna clear our home tog, including my K2 ds :boogie: . Each will be responsible for their own clothes, toys, books & stuff.

She has already planned play dates with 3 of her good frens, taking turns at each other's homes... :grphug:

Hope to recharge our energies & strengthen our relationship this hols... starting by (window) shopping w dd tmr :imcool: girls day out πŸ•Ί πŸ•Ί

            Happy Mama:

No it's not for English. The highest in standard for English is 96.
As per the School's letter, DD is receiving award for \"Outstanding Academic Achievements for 2012\". πŸ˜„

Hi Happy Mama, hope it's not too late...

Yes! P1 math, chinese, even social studies are new! . ..... book shop lady said only minor changes to chinese ,I have yet to go through the books.

              Hi Jedamum,

Would appreciate if you could share your findings. Also saw on ds's booklist that both Maths n CL books are new versions. Doubt that the maths books can be reused as I think that the changes are due to dropping some topics & adding others. Still, hoping to reuse other subjects' hand-me-downs for him...

                Jam!

I made a page to page quick comparison of the 1A book and the only difference is there are additional sheets of info at the last of
The whole book! Why the publisher did not highlight and inform buyers and give us option to only purchase add ons. But I guess lucky for us as I realised that ds 1 books are in poor condition with loads of scribblep inside. Will keep my eyes big next time before I rush to buy. But my elder son use that before. He said very useful with english translation. His last year teacher gave them something similar to supplement class materials. . But I never see him use. Lol.
