you get 2 bonus points which is equivalent to two A1s

this year, a mother wrote to the straits times forum complaining that her 6 A1s (including English) child cannot get into VJC.
6 pts does not qualify because you need to get bonus points from elsewhere (the lower the better):

        i. 2 pts for affiliated sec sch
ii. 2 pts for CCA (A grade), 1 pt for CCA (B or C grade)
iii. 2 pts for taking Higher Mother tongue
(you can only get max of 4 points from the above 6 pts)

so if the child get 6 pts, he can minus 4 pts if he has the above, which will bring it down to 2 pts.

You can look up the JC from the MOE School Information Service :

              http://app.sis.moe.gov.sg/schinfo/index.asp

The secondary schools that are affiliated to the JC are listed.
