ya la, though say so, kiasu pupils in the competitive schooling must also fight for a place in JC to pursue studies and fulfill dream. By doing well in CCA can help to get more points in the aim to get the 2 BONUS POINTS FOR JC ENTRY. 2 bonus pts is considered getting 2 A1 rite!

yeah, good point also. 2 points is equivalent to 2 A1s.

btw, is there a maximum point that we can deduct ?

how does affiliation from Sec school to JC works ? Only minus 2 points or like PSLE's affiliation as long as get into express stream can liao ?

      Thanks

Sec sch to JC affiliation only minus 2 points. E.g. Your child gets 6 for L1R5, minus 2 for HMT, minus 2 for CCA, minus 2 for affliation and your child's L1R5 will become 0.

Someone mentioned previously in this thread that the maximum deduction is 4 pts?....which would mean minimum and best L1R5 is 2.

This info is based on what my previous tenant told me. She and her bf are teachers at very good JCs.

They may hvae added a limit, I'm not too sure.

yes, max deduction is 4 points. But having best L1R5 of 2 may not get you into HCI or RJC. Their COP can be sub 2.

CCA plays an impt role in developing a child's character. Such as developing a spirit of excellence, teamwork, never-say-die or never-give-up attitude, friendship, and much more. From my experience and observations, switch off CCAs are usually not helping the kids in these areas.

Usually the UGs, sports and performing arts are quite good in gving your child the development he/she needs. But do bear in mind that once they are in UGs and Band, they cannot quit unless there is valid reason like medical condition.

Also for all CCAs, they must not have less than 50% for all 4 yrs. Usually last year is based on Term 1 attendance. Once any year falls below the required attendance, all CCA points accumulated in that year and the previous years will go to ZERO. For attendance above 50%-74%, that year's CCA points will be annulled.

Just wondering if max deduction is 4 pts, how can L1R5 fall below 2 ?

it means that some students with L1R5 of 2 points will not get in. The number of students intake is fixed for a particular year.

Most of the places are taken up by IP students and DSA students. So the leftovers are for non-IP and non-affiliated.

Example : 800 vacancies. 400 IP students, 100 DSA students. Left 300 places for the rest of Singapore. 400 6pointers apply and all have 4 bonus points. There will be 100 that will not get in. So that's why 2 points will not guarantee a place.

During one of the recruitment talks, I asked a teacher at HCI about the in-take of students. She said HCI about 500, NYGH also about 500, and then both groups proceed to fill HCJC's about 1000 vacancies at 5th yr - so not many left for \"outsiders\". Situation probably similar at RJC???
