May I check with other parents, for P4 going to P5, do the girls opt in / out of HCL? If so, when will the selection usually be done?

And is Monday the day the girls stay back for HCL?

        Thks!

At end of p4, each girl will be given a recommendation of what subject combi to take. The parents can either opt to go with sch's recommendation or choose their own. Classes will be made known end of yr. but at end of p5, the sch has final say of what subject combi the students shd take for PSLE.

This yr p5 and 6 hv HCL on mon, not sure abt next yr schedule.

Thank you 24-hr mom and vem137. So the recommendation will be given to us during the Meet The Parents session this Friday? So far, dd has not come back with anything.
Last yr my girl got hers a few days b4 the MTP, so i suppose ur girl shd get hers within these few days

st nic sec is a sap school, so hcl can be counted towards the overall t-score. distinction = +3 points, merit = +2 points.

Thk u. Will check with her these few days. My dd tends to conveniently \"forget\" all these forms and circulars from school... sighzzz

Can any experienced upper primary SNG mum here share how are the P2 girls being allocated into their respective P3 classes?

Is there further segregation among the 3 higher ability classes, meaning 1st, 2nd and 3rd higher ability classes? Or the top 120 (was given to understand that each class will have 40 girls) total aggregate scorers in the P2 cohort will be evenly allocated into these 3 higher ability classes?

Are these higher ability classes being taught at a faster pace?

              Thanks 😄

They will be allocated based on their overall score. So the top 40 goes to 1st class, then next 40 goes to 2nd class and so on. but after the top 3 classes, the rest of the classes are evenly allocated.

I can't say whether the top 3 classes are taught at faster pace cos didn't do any comparison, but there are some extra materials for maths for the top 2 classes (presumably to stretch the girls).

                  Thanks for the info!

Presumably, all the good academic awardees (ie: top 10% of cohort) will all be in 1st class of higher ability with remainder of class filled up by next top 19 aggregate scorers, right? Geez … the girls in that class must stay resilient …

Upon request, would the form teacher tell the parents at MTP whether the girls are allocated to which class category and which percentile they are in among the cohort?

In SNG, 95% and above are very good grades. For 90 to 94%, are they considered average?

What are the expectation (%) when it comes to P3?

So much guessing game here…can’t understand the rationale of letting parents know their kids’ standing among the cohort and the highest aggregate for their cohort? It’s for the good reason getting the girls setting a target/goal for themselves for the new year.

I mean can’t understand the school’s rationale of not revealing the requested info by parents.
