The teacher in charge that handed over your kid after the orientation in the hall should be the form teacher
. The first day of school should be pack light. I remembered receiving \"what to bring\" list 2 years ago for my DD and vaguely remembered it consisted of the purple file, student diary, a story book and stationeries. They will receive time table within the first 2 weeks.sdgaL:
Actually I am kinda bored by the presentation. .so I actually left ard 10 plus to explore the place while my hubby stay in the hall. :oops:jon00:
How do you find the orientation?
I was :scared: to see the long queue outside the school gate when we arrived. Well, it does keep pace and prevent over cluttering at the concourse where the students councillors lead the kids to their respective class.
Maybe this was my second time attending the orientation, pretty standard type of briefing so kinda of \"dreaming\" through it  . Went to the washroom and found it amusing on how the student councillors helped the younger kids in the toilet
..
My DS commented that they missed the eco-garden and the library was closed  but he is happy to see the computer lab (probably thinking he can play computer games  ). Nevertheless, the orientation was over after I finished completing the student forms. Briefly talked with the teacher in charge and it turned out she should be their form teacher.
Since 1A1 has the lead advantage to complete the forms
, we quickly proceeded to the canteen for the book and uniform purchase. Was done in 15minutes.
For parents who are attending tomorrow's orientation,
See you all there....so excited... :rahrah:
Went to the hall to fetch my daughter after completing the forms but they have not arrived so went to buy books 1st. After that, we q up from uniform...
The form teacher? U met him/her?
Do we need to pack the books that are listed in the papers where it indicate the form teacher may collect from the students? :scratchhead:
-
Parents with kids from P3 and aboveβ¦
Letβs discuss about CCA. My DD will be in P3 next year and I would like to know some information regarding the CCAs in SQPS. Please shareβ¦ -

Usually the CCA will be on Wed or Fri, but uniforms group such as Girls Brigade on Sat morning. They encourage kid to take 1 CCA but will not prevent those from taking 2 if timing is ok. Popular ones such as Edison Club maybe need ballot.Parents with kids from P3 and above....

I let my DD choose on her own of the CCA she wish to join and learn. -
My son joined the basketball team this year (P2) and he said he would like to continue. Their practice is quite frequent (about 2 times a week).
Personally, I would like him to join the student counsellor. -
Any parents heard of NSW? I heard some schools introduce it to their students from P1 onwards. I have not heard about it from my son for the past 2 years. Any ideas why this is not introduce in Shuqun? :?

leeserene,
I think student counsellors will be selected by the school and not considered as CCA. Is your son a student leader in P2 this year? If your son can excel in basketball, should nature him to represent the school team
What is NSW?leeserene:

Yqyq,
Heard from my DD yesterday mentioning about sailing. It will be on Wed but ends around 630pm because the training will be in Sembawang or Changi sailing club. Actually I am interested in her taking up this CCA but again, you are right that they have to choose what they like

I don't think he is a student leader. Haven't heard him mentioned anything about it.
NSW stands for New South Wales. It is a form of assessment of the child's academic ability (I think).jon00:

Oh, you mean ICAS (international Competitions and Assessment for Schools) conducted by UNSW. I never heard SQPS is participating in this. It depends on the school if you wish to participate. Not sure about the benefit though but it can be a good exposure for the kids.

I read in one of the notes that to bring maths stuff as the form teacher may collect from them. So do we need to bring? :scratchhead:
