If UK is your first stop, go to PRIMARK or ZARA and you will find extremely good quality, wide range and cheaper winter wear for kids.


Kids clothes in UK is a few pounds only coz exempted from local tax, can get really good buy. Just grab with eyes closed.

Our family also travelling to europe in Dec. Just check what sort of footwear is suitable in a cold climate like Europe? Besides wearing a good woollen socks, can we put on normal track shoes will do? Just heard from a colleague better to buy a pair of leather boots plus Heater pads. Any advice as whether necessary to waste money on this boots stuff?

Track shoes will not weather you from the bitter cold and slippery snowy roads. if time permits, you could go there in track shoes then buy the leather boots in Europe. A decent pair cost anything from euro 50-125. Lots of timberland in Europe and if you get into their outlet it will be even cheaper.

Heat pads can get from daiso, can last about 2 hours. A cashmere scarf and long jone suit maybe the most impt.

I remember by first trip to Europe ... I brought wollen thermals and found myself dying from the tich indoors! Now I bring layers, and wear a long sleve cotton T-shirt under. There's no need to wash as often in the cold weather as you don't sweat as much. But be prepared to peel off the layers indoors, then pile on the layers again before braving the cold outdoors. Its easier if the outer 2/ 3 layers are peeled off together. I generally wear tights under my jeans - the higher the deniez the warmer they are. I also bring a scarf to wind around my head or neck.And bring a windbreake/ raincoat - its the wind that makes the cold colder.

I prefer to DIY Europe trips. They're well used to backpackers and tourist looking lost. What I love most is getting lost, then suddently finding the most scruptious bakery with the most inviting aromatic hot coffee suddenly .... or turning the corner from Carnaby Street, and finding the perfect little pair of boots, on sale , in my size!!! Don't worry, its easy to get \"unlost\" too. Just ask round, or pop into the nearest metro.

International roaming wd hv cost a bomb or I think 30 per day sth like that but we bought the local card. my dh bought a prepaid card from TIM in Italy which was very cheap for data. The card cost euro 50 n lasted about 8 days of heavy data usage and some light voice calling.

So for those planning to visit many countries in Europe and spend only a day or 2 in each country, then this may not be a gd idea.

Yeah true if u spent only a day or two in a country. We got local prepaid sim in Italy and UK which were much cheaper. Wifi is nearly everywhere in Switzerland and too busy shopping in France so didn't need local data access.

:offtopic: do u use local SIM card in us n from which service provider?
