I fail to understand why some parents feel stressed just because the names and scores of a handful of top students out of a cohort of say 50,000 students are made known to the public. :? 🤷 :skeptical:

I don't think parents are really stressed by the announcement of the top scorers.

I think it's misplaced, the source of stress.

I think it is just an action in-line with Ministry's direction of not to \"over-stress\" on academic result from now on. Long time ago we never have such thing right and most of us never even studied for PSLE...

Maybe worse than that  ..........maybe SG kids will not be top :siam: šŸ¦†
Actually, me thinks, highly likely!! Imagine the somewhat ironic news - top student, well okay from neighbourhood school, not Singaporean. Dunno whether will cause a cyber uproar or not....

So if a currently non top school over the years improve a lot to reach the academic achievements of some of the top schools, no one will know about it and parents will still go for the schools that are top as at 2012.

As I stated in a post last year, Singapore is well on its way to becoming a mediocre country.....

GEP? Too stressful, but since I can't get my children in there, I don't want any other Singaporean child to attend either.....
Side track a little, GEP is open to non Singaporean children too

I know, it's just in a manner of speaking.

Quality passes percentage counts if one were to look at academic achievement and improvement, not just one or two high scorers.
