Guys, I am extremely disappointed with my daughter's results. She only got 272 marks this year! I heard that a large number of people got 280 and above. I am so sad right now. What can you do with 272? Sigh. I'm not trying to make other people with terrible scores like say, 260 feel sad, but this is really annoying. Especially since the average score in singapore is like what, 275? Sigh.
My sympathies to you.
You said she only got 272 this year. What did she get last year ? -

As a parent, i feel shame on you, your daughter already scored 272 marks on PSLE, which is consider top 5% of the total cohort. you should be proud of her result. Don't put too much pressure on her. -

Please don't rub salt in people's wound. What you are doing isn't very funny, and nobody here really feels for you. If you are looking for comfort, you got the wrong place.
Don't worry I got 272 only.. so sad... -
How could the the average be 275? It’s a joke right?

Correct. Ranking is based on many decimal points so if you're ranked ahead of someone else who also has 263+2, your choices come into consideration before that next person.Hi
Can someone pls help me clarify if I understand correctly? The posting is based on the result and not the choices we made, right? My DS got 263+2. We are thinking of trying RI as our first choice and Hwa Chong as 2nd. Will his chances of getting in Hwa Chong be lower since he didn't put Hwa Chong as his first choice? From my understanding, the MOE already \"rank\" each students according to their results and will consider the posting one by one, starting from the top scorer. So by the time it reaches my son, if RI is full and Hwa Chong still got vacancies, he will still get it even before another child who scores lower than him but put Hwa Chong as his first choice. Can someone please help to clarify is my understanding is correct?
Thank you! -
Tuppy:
No. There are many decimal points in the score so it is unlikely that two students will have exactly the same score and hence the same ranking. But if really 2 students have exactly the same score down to the last decimal place, then yes, the person who put it as first choice will get the place. But then again, you'll have to be SO lucky that it's that last final vacancy in that school.Only272:
To the parent whose son score 263, if another guy with 263 put HCI as his first choice, he will get it over your son/
Only272, thank you for your clarification. So only those that score the same 263 will get consideration first with the school of their first choice, right? -

Thank you jtoh. Can you advice if i should try putting RI first choice? As for Hwa Chong, it would be 263+2=265. Will he stands better chance with Hwa Chong?

Definitely worth a go esp if that's his dream school.
