Backtoschool:
Ofc best sec 1 should try IP if t-score allows. However, if cant, you can always try for IP at Sec 3. Ironically, the opening up of more dual-track schools are closing up Sec 4 IP options (such as VIP, Temasek Academy etc.)

My friend said that if go at sec3 safer!true?

Sec 3 there is a chance you might not get in. Remember, they look at the S1 and S2 results + other stuff in S3 too. Also, you MUST dsa if you want to go at S3. Never heard of non-dsa IP for S3 admission.
Hi,

My son got 2A* & 2A and T score is 235. Based on my calculation, the T score should be around 245. Can some expert estimate the parameter to calculate this year T score?

            Thank you

My son's friend has also 2a* and 2a but got 251.Perhaps is low A and a*

My estimated calculation was based on low A* & low A (2x91 + 2x75)x3/4. I expected some deviation. However, in my son's case, the deviation is too big
Know someone with 4A at 230. Do you mind sharing which are the 2 subjects with A*.
Guys, I am extremely disappointed with my daughter's results. She only got 272 marks this year! I heard that a large number of people got 280 and above. I am so sad right now. What can you do with 272? Sigh. I'm not trying to make other people with terrible scores like say, 260 feel sad, but this is really annoying. Especially since the average score in singapore is like what, 275? Sigh.

                My sympathies to you.

You said she only got 272 this year. What did she get last year ?

Last year? You mean she took PSLE more than once?!
Obviously. Her 272 shows that she is smart and not one to make silly mistakes in her writing. I guess if you take it every year, the score can only get better and better.

Yes, dd's enrichment teacher was praising Temasek JC to high-heavens. Principal is from Cedar Girls. Former alumnis returning to the school to teach.

                    Hi FQW,

Pointless to look back...I need to compose myself to move on.
I have never aimed at RI or above 240. Whatever went wrong during his exams is useless to talk about now.

However, thanks for your words of encouragement.
                    Hi Janet

I shared in the other thread that my friend's child got a totally unexpected 160+ when her prelim's were around the 60s (the expected T score is around 210).

She will be calling her child's teacher tmr to check on the procedure of reconfirming the scores just to be 'satisfied'.

After the rude shock this noon, both mother and child have recovered and already selected their schools and tmr they are going to try out the bus distance (while in the meantime doing the 'investigation' concurrently). This is a chance to demo to a child how to fall and quickly pick up and move on and as a parent, we have to be the lead to show our children our courage in face of adversity.

If you are strong enough, you may want to do the same 'investigation'. You may do so without your son's knowing if you don't want to give him further false hopes.

I only know TJ is 'Big Five' so must be quite good. No cutoff point, as said, because this is their first year enrolling S1 students.

Usually Maths and MT will pull up the T score. If your son’s is very strong in Maths and MT and gets A* his T score will be higher compared to another child who is strong in English and Science but weak in Maths and MT. This is my personal observation. Of course it is possible for your son to get lower T score than his friend because your son’s friend may have scored high A* and A while your son’s are low A* and A. Although the grade is same (which is given within a range say 85 to 100 will get A* though in actual PSLE, one can get A* if the range is fixed for example at 75 to 100 if the paper is too tough ie. bell curve will come into play), the actual marks scored is different.
