u r quite a few points below the cutoff, so might be very slim chance, to be honest.

I don't know how relevant it is to ask this help here when you all have other major concerns. I apologize if this hurts anyone. I am genuinely interested in some help in choosing my daughter's secondary school. She scored 252 + 2 for HMT. She has been a school topper in previous years and a consistent high scorer. All the while we were having a high expectation like 260+ and dreaming about top schools with IP. I feel very helpless to choose her school. Does she have any chance to get into IP programme?. If not what other good choice of school I have?. I live in marine parade. Will appealing for recorrection help in anyway?.

You may want to try Catholic High. They will be having IP program next year for the first time. Thin your daughter's score should be good enough for the school.

Hi Janet, suppose you've already accepted that the results are final. I have been thru the same as you 2 yrs back when my gal scored 199... No tears, no scolding or blaming... and as I didnt collect the results with her then, I only wanted her to make her way home safe.

I was determined to walk the tougher route with my gal. She was totally shocked I didnt say too much, and worked with her the limited but still with options. Normal or express? This or that school? I am a single mum and settle everything the best for her. Yet, I let her make the decision, as I want her to know she's old enough to be responsible for herself.

Looking at her now, I suppose she has learnt the lesson herself - to take failure and never to be too be over-confident. She is moving smoothly to Sec 3 next year and getting into the best class and subjects she aimed for.

Kids are smart and they will do it at their pace. We are parents, not angels nor GOD. We guide and make sure they are on the right path... and when they are almost there, we let loose and they are on their own.

Well, fortunate for my 2nd child, he saw and he tried... and yes, he scored much better seeing the diffculties the sis and I went throu... Am sure You and your child will be good.

Wouldn't tat mean there r FOUR top scores (1 NYPS, 1 NH, 2 SA) this yr? Anyone knows if tat's unprecedented?

I admit I am a Kiasu parent. It is also wonderful to see the kids in these schools got such wonderful PSLE grades. However, I do not think it makes much sense to focus only on the toppest score of the school. After all, the toppest score is more of a confirmation of the individual kid's effort than the school's overall effort. It's the total numbers of kids that scored up 260+, 250+ that reflect the standard of the school.

Hello, my friend’s bro took PSLE this year, he didn’t do very well, got 260. (okay I must admit its not very bad, but then it is a rather awkward score, as he was expecting at least 270++ because he is really really good, probably a lot of careless mistakes etc). So his goal is to go RI, but the cut off point is 261 or so based on previous years. Thus, he is crossing his fingers and hoping to appeal if he doesn’t get posted. So I would like to ask, what sort of things do they emphasize on during appeal? (he has very good school results) I think its never too early to do some homework…


As he is Indian he doesn’t have much choices, all the other IP schools are SAP or what not, so choices are only RI or ACS, which seems very wasted luh.

Also this year is the dragon baby year, so how many more students took the PSLE? I presume that the schools still have the same quota as previous years, so does it mean (do you think) that cut off points will be higher comparatively?

Yah lah, with so many top scorers, that’s why MOE does not want to publish anymore. Next year PSLE will be more tough, to identify the elite among the elites of the elites.
