Yah lah, with so many top scorers, that's why MOE does not want to publish anymore. Next year PSLE will be more tough, to identify the elite among the elites of the elites.

I agree with you .hope that if less top scorers ,they will post the top scores out so that we no need guess here guess there liao

MOE don't want to publish news - let parents play ... mystery guessing game here

        Hi everyone,

I thought my tears have dried by now...but reading all your posts made me cry again, bcos I can sense your sincerity.
It is so hard to take...but I never blamed my son one single bit.
He has worked very very hard.
        Thank you.
        Janet,
I hope you have had time to get over the shock of the results and you have braced yourself to help your DS find a suitable school. Take care!

If my son had been offered Express stream, can we still opt for Normal (acad) sream?

            Hi,

            2. No, not everyone is offered 3rd language. Top 10% offered all the 3rd Lang, including french, German and jap. Then the next x% will be offered only Malay, Arabic, etc.
            Just curious.

            Top 10%, what is the t-score? Above 260 or 250 or 240?

                      autolycus:
I guess everyone has forgotten that the PSLE scores are normalised; exactly half will do below average and half will do above average, evenly distributed. Rules of thumb: the average is somewhere between 200-210 +/- a few points (biased upwards), 250+ will put you in the top 10%, and there is no upper limit in theory (although in practice it's probably around 290).
I thought that (based on the T-score formula), if a student whose raw scores (after normalising - adjusting of S-curve) for every subject are exactly equal to the average of the respective subjects, will get exactly 200 points for the aggregate T-score.

However, it does not mean that 50% of the cohort will be more than 200 T-score and 50% will be less than 200 T-score - because the curve is skewed. From newspaper report, about 63% of the cohort has 200 and above.
