250 gets the placeMay I confirm this is how posting works
If a child A gets 250. Child B gets 249.
Child A selects School X as first choice and School Y as second choice.
However School X has no more vacancies.
Say there is only 1 last slot in School Y
At the same Child B selects School Y as the first choice.
Which child gets the last slot in School Y? Is the posting algorithm documented anywhere where the public can review?
Many thanks. -

Child A with 250 gets the place in School Y. The process is very clearly described in that big grey book given to your P6 child.May I confirm this is how posting works

I think your chances for NJC and Cedar are slim. For the other new IP schools, your stated COP is the minimum COP that is accepted by the school to APPLY for IP. So the COPs could very well go much higher than what you've stated. Your only safe school is Cedar Express. SCGS is likely to go much higher than 250.Hi, my daughter scored 252 + 2 HMT. 2A* maths + eng. 2A science + tamil. She was a potential high scorer who didn't do upto the expectation and yet dreaming of IP programmes. Following are my choices for her. Pls advise if am being realistic and trying to secure a place for my daughter in a good school.
1. NJC IP cut-off 258
2. Cedar girls IP. Cut-off 258
3. TJC IP. Cut-off 255
4. MGS IP. Cut-off 255
5. SCGS IP Cut-off 250
6. Cedar girls express. Cutoff 249
Really need some expert advise and good guidance please. Thanks a lot!
You should rethink your 6 choices. From the looks of it, it is very likely that you might end up in Cedar Express. Select one more safe option and remove either NJC or Cedar or both from your list. -

:faint:I believe that most parents are so concerned on the results at PSLE, which is the first exam of the life of Singapore children. I only caution that any information pertaining to the results is now classified as undisclosable. Any attempt to disclose it without the permission from the school and MOE is deemed as invasion of privileged information.
Whatever so-called \"I heard\" from so and so will never been validated. If I am not wrong, I think that MOE will have the power to stop any parent from engaging the media to report on their children's high score.
Please do with a bit of wisdom, I do not know how MOE and the school will view it. If any names of the so-called top student, will it deemed as contradicting the current new policy. The MOE will reserve the rights to pursue the matters as they deem fit.
I caution myself not to be involved of sharing the information I know. This is because I do not know how MOE will view it. This is new policy and let us discuss it with the term, I heard, I was told by my son or daughter who happen to be friend that their classmate get how much and so on. Do not say \"so and so (with reference to actual name) of \"so and so\" school obtained 279, 285, 283. It might land you in trouble if MOE intend to pursue it, it might question the school, and slowly filter down to the actual person who release such information.
Do you seriously believe what you have just posted or are you just trying to dissuade others from posting. -

Of course and it should be expected. Our elitist system pick the best out of each conhort and put them in a few schools for GEP education. And why shouldn't we expect that few schools to have a better results?

That said, I am saying that I oppose differentiated education base on each child capability. -
Hey parents out there, good luck to your kids for getting into their dream school, just an advice for those high scorers, if you guys like a complete enjoyable, fulfilling and fun environment for your kids, I suggest you join Hwa Chong. They really train you to be all rounded and they have really good facilities, character education so you don’t have to worry about your kids being snobbish. There are also loads of oppurtunities there, even if your dd or ds don’t do well in their PSLE. Good luck, I remembered my apprehension in choosing HCI over RI, but I never regretted and never looked back, heading for the JC next year
So good luck to all parents and kids

anyone knows the size of the 2012 psle cohort - the number of students?

Yes, totally agree with WeiHan, the current education system indeed promotes elitist system at such young age.
