Since then I've learnt not to take anything for granted and check, double check, cross check. Other exam skills like going through the paper quickly and leaving those toughies to the end (circle/mark the question number so don't omit).

This is just one exam, there will be more significant ones to come. Take in lessons learnt. Not to savor but apply.
There may be kids who just don't do we'll in exams. So be it. There is a niche for everyone. The one who didn't do well in psle this year may go on to be SG's greatest scientist yet, or a major bizman in future.

Learn where your strengths are and use your gifts wisely. All the best to you!
We worked hard this year...but Lady Luck wasn't with us...so no choice but to brave on...it was very tough to face this setback...but it's over. Thinking about it only makes things worse. Of course nobody would be in the right frame of mind to think positive those 2 days.

SCGS should be considered under Novena. Like MGS, SCGS does not produce PSLE top scorers in Singapore. Rather, the cohort performs well as a whole and this can be seen from their % of quality passes.
Yes, like ACS (baker) and Junior, SCGS is under Novena.
Hi lee_yl, Do you mind to share what is the quality pass % and % for scoring 250 n above for SCGS ?

Yes, dd also worked very hard, ESP math. Do correct me if i’m wrong. As I observed and analyzed, for dd and her friends, it seemed like math pulled them down. THose who got A in sch exams, got a B, and B became C . Those all along had A distinction said the psle math was no sweat. So if those higher end kids did v well for math, and maybe quite many of them, maybe the bell curve was shifted up. I don’t know how true it is.

I’m analyzing this whole thing because I have another child doing this 2 years later. And to see how best to help her and the strategies involved.

Dd woke up and asked me "mum, is it because I didn’t work hard enough, that’s why I didn’t do well" haiz… I told her she has done her best, that’s enough.

              Hmm..Transition from 2011-2012,
              1) all schools have become good schools

              2) More students attending enrichment centres or the enrichment centres have become much better than last year

              3) Kiasuparent's spirit have gone went up and hit the top notch this year :yikes: or there are more kiasuparents than last year.

From 2011 to 2012, the transition has went up way over the top and unbelievably significant!

Or there are something else? like T-score calculation adjustment?

Maybe there is a grouping of adjusted scores like 260 and above one group, 230 to 250 one group, 210 and below one group and not many scores in-between so that it is easier to make secondary school choices.

:hi5: We have the same line of thinking! But I am thinking more like a group of 270 and above in one group, 250-270 in another group, 230-250 another and so on... Invisible hand has done something behind the scene and layman like me can only see the effect now.[/quote]I beg different view here. This year, the dragon cohort has increased 3000 more candidates, that is about 6% increase. Notably, this year's percentage into Express stream is slightly higher than last year. While top scorers which are above 250 are constantly about 10% of each cohort; while top 3%, EESIS awarded students are constantly >260-263, so the increase of any particular T score group is no surprise.

Furthermore, T-score is also a placement score to allocate students into secondary schools. The increase of T -score from year to year has no correlation with the academic ability of whole cohort from year to year; You will notice that the COP of schools in fact do not fluctuate that much, rather, the different T score of different schools within the same cohort speaks volume of schools'ability in producing academically able students.

                    Sad Person:
I thought that the paper was easy but then my marks was unexpected low... What Happened?? :? :?:

If you really think that was unexpected... you may consider to re-check your paper. Go to MOE site to find out exact details. I think you need to pay $50 for one paper?

I had the same opinion at first, upon looking at Demographics of population of 2011 and 2012, I have come to this point. As you rightfully pointed out, 6% increase in population this year, the increase of any particular T score group is not surprise but NOT to this extent of a few hundred % of the students who score extremely well in certain group. As you know the increase of T -score from year to year has no correlation with the academic ability of whole cohort from year to year, I'm referring to the Demographics of this year versus last year but not so much on the increase of T -score from year to year.

Honestly, I'm not sure if 250 is still true indication of top 10% of this year cohort and so as >260-263 are top 3%. I am still looking for the answer.

Oops Thot SCGS is along Bukit timah canal. Thanks for the correction.
Wat is the quality pass for SCGS ?
