My dd got 253. Any views as to whether putting Cedar O level as 6th choice is too risky? My choices 1 to 5 carry some risks

Cedar O level cop for the past years were:
      2009... 244
      2010... 246
      2011... 248
      2012... 249

Has any school's (O level) cop ever jumped more than 3 points? Thanks
Your DD case is very safe. Shld have a cut above the rest.

So moving on, I really hope my son will get to enjoy his school :xedfingers: and TEACHERS WHO TEACH. I am not asking for too much right ?
Ultimately, this is the REASON why our kids go to school.

I really wish this is the case. My boy who just finished Sec 1 this year - we had to get him a Math tutor halfway thru the year. And he improved significantly. And when I asked him why, he said he understands his tutor, but he doesn't understand his school teacher even when he approaches the teacher for clarification. And... his school teacher is always \"so busy\". Make appointment and 90% of the time don't turn up or is rushing to go off.

I think will need to get him a Science tutor soon too for Sec 2, so he can understand his school syllabus instead of bungling thru with school teachers.

*sigh*. when I was in sec sch, it was the school tr who helped me improve significantly. Not a tutor that we have to pay extra money to.

So that means sec and primary school is the same? Tutors, not teachers help child understand syllabus :faint: I am having my worries about son and whether he can cope with math and science. Die lah, 8-9 subjects.

I have to be very careful with my words.

Sadly, I happened to know some GEPpers are attending tuition and heard some from others. I really can't comment whether it is a rare case or common in sight as I don't have the statistics.

That's why I'm asking parents to share their experiences..

Son still has Chinese and English tuition...I simply cannot take that risk.

Did consider math bcos he is weak in that subject. Oh man, just when I am done with madness this year :stupid: 40 in a class in sec 1 and what phankao mentioned made me damn scared :nailbite:

I cannot afford similar problem faced last year...scrambling to get a tutor after failing math at ca1 and sa1. What is the meaning of this? Why must we parents pay for tutors when kids attend school? Where is the logic?
I know the girl who scored 270 and above...she has tuition.

My tutors do not spoon feed him.

I do not do that either…if he encounters anything he doesn’t understand and informs me, I press for details. He is one fella lazy to think…slightly better now. As he doesn’t have strong foundation in languages and Math, he will fail…i cannot afford that when he is marginally close at express stream.
Once his math is better after exam, I will wean him off.

I don't think every school is like that la. My DD in sec 3 now. Since pri school only take tuition in Chinese be cos we speak little Chinese at home. But she has really good teachers in sec school most of the time. She can also whatsapp her teachers with questions about her school work.

I don't advocate tuition as the easy way out. It is ok not to score the highest. Let the kids learn how to learn n study independently. I fear many of our Singapore kids are over reliant on tutor. With so many subjects in sec school + cca, where got time to go for so many tuition?
