Seems like motivation and drive is more nature over nurture. What is your take on this?

For Singapore, I do notice that motivation and drive is more nurture over nature. It is a complacent environment that doesn't feed any need for a person to evolve and derive a drive to excel nor self motivate.

Parents seem to be the biggest role in constantly motivating the kids up till before the teens. We all know what happens thereafter

It is like chicken and egg situation. Even if a child isn't motivated, just their surroundings might propelled them to be motivated without them knowing.

For DD1, she realised at a young age that she is the elder one and has a more matured mind (I linked that to my genes :rotflmao: ) , which leads to another headache of getting her to accept that failures do happen.

DD2 has always been sheltered by DD1 and most people hence she is carefree and not too bothered about standings BUT she is cheeky. She responds to rewards hence her motivation factor leans towards extrinstic.

I asked her as well on the exam bit, her response \" I want to get A's so I can get trips to other countries\" :skeptical:

Hmm, I think becos before I was sahm, dd1 was under the care of her great aunt. She was the youngest there, so the jie jie imprint is missing :rotflmao:

It is which is why their first trip only happened this year :siam: , they had to watch us travel for holidays prior coz their behaviour and manners weren't up to mummy's expectations.
