Why their pay is lower compare to Malaysian and local.....

MNC companies like SMRT always peg staff wages against performance indicator.

I am very sure the HR of SMRT did not short change this group unhappy PRC SMRT bus drivers....

Just like there is difference in wages between maids from Indonesia , Philippines....

Employers are very careful and smart especially MNC....

You want to increase pay yearly, your job responsible must also increase....

Pay you $1 , expect you to earn back $3.....

      That is how bosses prosperous....

I am very sure the job ability deliver between Malaysian and PRC there is difference....which is why the pay is different....

Note: I do not work for SMRT , but after working for so many years.....
I understand how company assess their staff, and what bosses expect in return....

Ok someone pls bring out the knuckle duster.

We might suffer great inconvenience if 200 drivers go on strike, but if we as much as give an inch as a precedent, we're screwed as a labour force. In other pple's country, we have no choice but to follow their culture. But in our own country, we must will do what is right for us.

I share the same view. Singapore cannot be held hostage by worker strikes because people are our only resources. Besides, isn't strike against the law? If they are unhappy with the pay, go to MOM. They came here on contract with their eyes wide open, so if they break the law here or breach their contract, I am of the stand that we should send them home.

I support SMRT to send this group of unhappy drivers home…

No point keeping them , they will demand more and more…

I rather have a few weeks of buses transport inconvenience…

To those FT , this is what I have to say:

Local Employers bring you in is to add value to our economy…not to create trouble to our country

            Not happy with Salary…leave lor…

By virtue of their working attitudes, i.e. conducting a strike over their PERSONAL unhappiness, they have just show us how much we should value them and how \"good\" their attitudes are in comparison to other foreign workers in the same company.

                From ST...
One Singaporean driver who wanted to be known only as Mr Rabu said he was asked to ply an additional trip yesterday morning.
The 57-year-old said: \"The company did not tell us why, but we know. Some drivers did not turn up to work today.\"
SG best at what they do... Follow :faint:
One Malaysian bus driver in his 40s noted that while he earned more than his counterparts from China, he still loses out to local drivers who receive several hundred dollars more each month.
PRC compare to M'sia compare to SG... :faint:
Finally, at around 5.45pm, a group of about 30 of them who live in a separate dormitory in Serangoon streamed out.
They told reporters who swirled around them that the transport operator had agreed to consider their decision to raise their wages, and would get back to them in a week.
Raise the PRCs' wages? :faint:
But five drivers from China arriving at the Serangoon dormitory at about 7pm did not seem so sure. They told The Straits Times they were still unhappy, and would \"wait and see\" before deciding to return to work today.
:faint:
The Criminal Law (Temporary Provisions) Act defines a strike as a group of workers employed under essential services making a concerted refusal to work. Essential service workers cannot go on strike unless they have given their employer 14 days' notice of their intention to strike.

Public transport and air transport services are among the list of essential services covered. Those found guilty can be fined not more than $2,000 and/or a prison term of not more than a year.
Who dares to prosecute? :siam:
The Malaysian no lodging.

                      The china worker has lodging.

Give them $1375 and ask them to find their own lodging, they go & see worth or not. 😛 Now Singapore housing rental is so EXPENSIVE!!!

Using lower-cost resources does not necessarily lead to higher productivity. There is often a cost-quality compromise. In choose lower cost resources, one needs to be mindful on the compromise on quality. And that quality is must be within an acceptable range. If it falls out of that acceptable range, then additional cost may be incurred from somewhere else. E.g. in settling disputes, customer dissatisfaction, accidents, etc…

Many people only see cost going down as key to boosting productivity. However, quality is essential in ensuring standards are kept high. We have come this far in our standards and expectations. Why allow the compromise in cost pull us back down in terms of quality of service? This is one of the things that will cause us to become mediocre.

If govt wants to reward good character, please give some thoughts to reward the local bus drivers too.
