If my son is keen in VS, should i place VS IP as 1st choice? Does it matter? COP likely to be higher than 255?

If u plan to appeal, then u might want to check if the school will only consider appeal cases where they are at 1st choice...... Thus your 1st choice quite important....

I am not good at languages , may I know if it is easy for me to pick up Malay and join the CSP program? Thanks in advance.

Third language is optional. You must have interest & able to cope with an additional subject. If you think that you are not good at languages, you have an option of giving it a try or not to opt for it.

Need some kind advice here. Initially i thought i had it all worked out until my daughter’s friends and teacher start advicing my daughter on her choice. My dd score is 249+2 and below is our initial choice:

1) DH IP (Last year COP 256, 5points off)
2) Cedar IP (Last year COP 258, 9Points off as HMT 2 points not applicable)
3) Cedar Express (Last year COP 249)
4) SCGs Express (Last Year COP 248)
5) AH Express (Last year COP 243)
6) TKGs Express (Last year COP 235)

I know DH and Cedar IP is a far shot but we understand that there are 8 more schools offering IP, does that translate to more vacancies? Then again i also recognise that there are more children this year, being the dragon year. Is my choices wise?

My daugther’s friends and teachers adviced her to drop her 1st two choices but we would like to try and will it impact her chance of getting into 3th or 4th choice if someone with same score put 3rd or 4th as their first choice. how likely will there be another student with the same score as my ds, quite likely me think?

Really headache… deadline is tomorrow and still considering. faintz.

Your choice #1 and #2 really very slim, unless something out of the blue turns the table. That's why you were advised to drop #1 and #2. If all the COPs increase, it's hard to predict. You may get #4 or #5.

If it didn't remember wrongly, although the COP for Cedar Express was 249, only 1 girl with 249 was admitted via S1. She probably had 249.999999

i'm guessing you probably stay in the east. but if you are willing to travel to scgs, you may also want to consider crescent girls.

Posting is base on merit & not choice. It is very unlikely that someone has the same score as your daughter. There are still a few more digits after the decimal place (e.g 249.999999) Her fate will depend on the digits behind her score. Nothing to do with her choice (1st or 6th) You can just leave it as it is, if you want to try your luck. As long as the last 2 choices COP are lower than her score.

How about CHIJ St Nicholas? She will be able to use her HMT 2 points.

Thanks for your suggestion, Initially it is one of my choice but then DS came to me and said perhaps i should put St Nich below AHS… then i was thinking, what’s the point since AHS COP is lower than St Nich, waste of bullet. Thus, removed St nich… Moreover, hubby not willing to shift out of East Area. SCGs is an exception coz DS really likes it very much so hubby no choice.

Actually, as i was reading the thread, i understand frist choice is very important especially for appeal cases, is that right? if yes, what if my DS put Cedar IP and Cedar express as first two choices, what is her chance of appealing for Cedar express if unsuccessful? Does anyone know?
