Let's hope the MOH put more effort in educating the public in this aspect. If everyone does their part, it will go a long way to curb the speed and spread of infection ....H1NI, HFMD, SARS, deadly flu...etc.
Yes yes I observe the same too!!! I too wonder sometimes if it is because people hardly use soap, so in public toilets, they don't top up the soap quickly too. I too believe that washing with soap is essential. So now the saving grace for me is the sanitiser. This 'no time' thing is really eating our normal lives, isn't it? We cut the slack in the wrong areas.westmom:
Agree..what i find most lacking in our society is \"washing hands with soap\". If you don't believe me, just wait around in a public/office toilets and count how many wash hands with soap.....only about 1 or 2 out of 10. Most just splash water onto their fingers or not at all! We are years behind the Japanese in the hygiene aspect. How to curb spread of virus, be it H1N1 or Sars etc when this basic hygiene practice is not yet cultvated. I have witnessed \"kids\" wanting to wash their hands in the toilet but mommies pulling them away..exclaiming \"no time\" to do that..! -

Yeah..
Hope we can have a culture like Japanese soon in this particular area. I look forward to being a \"Singaponese\"

thanx ks2me, shall start carrying my sanitiser with me when i'm out. btw, do you still wash hands with water after you use the sanitiser?
share this pic of a toilet we saw at the seoul airport. at the push of a button, the plastic lining the seat is replaced auto! how's that for clean n convenient..no more cleaning the seats.

PS: I dont go round taking pics of toilet bowls, but this is so amazing n i'm wondering when they'll have it here in SG. -

This one, I can't help it. My rule is, no physical contact please!! First I clean the toilet seat and then I line it cos liquid can seep through, urghh!!
I know of people who will bring toilet seat paper to lay on them before using.
So actually, the person using the toilet after me is lucky cos I've cleaned it already :D!
I'm hoping the govt will consider implementing those auto plastic sheet seat-covers in Japan. Then public toilets will really be clean and usable. -

After going to the toilet, will still wash hands of course. Sanitiser is for instances where there is no soap to wash hands with, then after wash, I can use the sanitiser. Mostly we use it after touching lift buttons, after touching the escalator handrail, places where there are multiple unknown hands touching. sounds paranoid huh? Yeah but cannot take chances since the spread of H1N1 is so wide now. Incidentally, Money is the dirtiest thing we come in touch with daily so use less CASH.... :lol:thanx ks2me, shall start carrying my sanitiser with me when i'm out. btw, do you still wash hands with water after you use the sanitiser?

I love such toilets too but I think it is too expensive to install these in SG. Even the used-to-be-very-sophisticated toilets in Paragon do not have this. I think maintaining the mechanism is also heavy maintenance cost. I am happy if they can put a dispenser for cleaning the toilet seats to do that manual cleaning. That makes alot of difference already. -

Can read each other's minds about toilet not good lah. More useful to forecast 4D number ... -

Yeah Japanese and Korea have similar cultures but the difference is in Japan, the culture is throughout the country, Korea not so unianimous yet. The spread of H1N1 in Korea is very much faster to my surprise as well.
