I think Year 3 probably has one of them more challenging assessments/exams so that those who cannot cope can quickly look for an alternative mainstream secondary school and do the O levels. It's be really too late at Sec 4, right?

Not all of them are requested to leave. Some are getting reviewed based on past performances and attitude.

Hi, I would just like to ask if NJC still accept students from other schools in SG in Yr 3.

Yes, I'm sure they still do. 🙂

No NJ doesn't have a Year 3 intake anymore.

It depends on you but 3 sets of uniform and 2 pe attire shld be enough, there's only PE once a week. But there may be some activities like house sessions on wednesdays.

is it compulsory for pupils to stay in boarding school / hostel ?

start from which level - then compulsory ?
              Sec 1, Sec 4 or JC 1 ?

yes it is. Unless you have some medical condition or whtsoever.
JH1/sec 1 is the first time students will board. You board for the whole of term 4.
Every year there is a term where you have to board. But trust me, don't be so worried for your kids in boarding, there are teachers living on every floor. It's a very fun experience, many fun activities. Can bond with classmates and teachers as well.

                  i)

                  in the boarding school -
how do they separate out boys from girls ?

                  is it
all boys stay in one boarding school, girls stay in another, OR
all same in the same boarding school - but different level
                  example:
                  boys - ground floor
                  girls - 2nd floor

                  boys - 3rd floor
                  girls - 4th floor
                  ?

                  ii)
what strict measure(s) are taken by the school to ensure that once lights off -
no hanky panky stuff take place inside the hostel room - ie. no boy run to sleep inside the girls’ dormitory, vice versa ?

todate, are there any teenage pregnacy or abortion happening in NJC ?

                  iii)
other Junior college do not stipulate this minimum once a Term Per year stay in boarding school rule. Why is NJC so special in enforcing such a rule ?
what is the rationale behind ?

Girls are in the top floors while boys are in the lower floors. They cannot enter without their access cards to each floor, whether by staircase or by lifts so they are tracked, so to say. Unless someone tries to bring another in but there are CCTVs everywhere including the Boarding Discipline Master/Mistress. I've heard girls who've forgot to bring their cards try to get back into their rooms with help of their friends instead of going straight to the boarding office get caught. Teachers and even the Principal stay in the Boarding School.

When checking in, Fathers are not allowed to escort their daughters to their rooms without a Female Staff present bc they are going to the girls' floors. Interestingly enough. There are no such provisions for Mothers going with their sons to help bring things on the checking-in day to the boys' floors. *hahaha*.

Most of us, after the 1st year of boarding, just drive our kids there and leave them with their \"barang\" at the porch for them to handle themselves already lah.

The Boarding Programme is part of NJC's programme lah, take it or leave it. There are Pros and Cons. It fosters independence and team spirit.

phtthp, do you have any secondary school aged kids? Is your dd even in primary school yet? Why this fascination with boarding in NJC and asking if there are any teenage pregnancies? If I were an NJC parent I'd be quite insulted.

....All the boys. ALL the boys stay on one level, level 3. It's standard since njc doesn't have alot of boys. Then the girls stay on the rest of the levels. Except level 4. Level 4 is for the scholars.

I can assure you, that no one can ever go to another level that is not their own. They have this thing, at the door of every level's staircase, where you have to tap your ID card to open the door. If it's not your floor, you tap already also cannot go in one. There are security guards patrolling every level at 10.30 every night.
And no, there are no such cases. It is impossible that a girl could run to the 3rd floor, confirm she would get spotted and caught on cctv right? Who would dare to do such stuff? Students at njc are not like that.

The schools wants to highlight the importance of independence, in boarding your time-management skills will improve as well. I can assure you your kids will have fun.
